Quads

Ok, its a 6 handed and im chip leader with about 6500 in chips and the closest being 4000 which is to my left.

I am sb so 4000 is bb and 1st and 2 position are both new to our home games and new players to poker. I am dealt 8 10 and its called to me with only one person folding, leaving me wanting to raise in sb but fearing someone is trapping since 4 people have already flat called before me. So I limp in with 8 10 and get a check from the BB. (*Note BB and the guy after the two new guys are fairly good players and sometimes overly aggressive)

The flop: 8 8 8
- I flopped quads

Since I am first position I had a tough decision, what to do with quads? The blinds were at 50/100 so I came out with a 250 bet hoping to look fishy. The guy to my left reraises it to 750 and the person to his left reraises all in to 775 total (only 25 more). Well I'm jumping for joy but I think about it for a minute and then call. The turn comes a queen; im praying to god the guy to my left hit a queen and I come out with a 500 bet and he calls so I shift a bit nervously in my seat. The river comes a 10 which to add insult to injury hits my other card. So i come out with a 925 bet hoping he might reraise me all in; he calls and shows a 10 and congratulates me on the pot. He had A10 by the way.

Is there anything I did wrong, could I have gotten more money out of it or did I maximize my profits?

You got lucky, very lucky.

If you flop 888 and hold the other 8 you know you have the nuts and only a horrendous runner runner beat can top your hand. The move here is to CHECK because you know that no-one else has hit this flop. Any player with an overpair may take a stab at the pot in which case you should flat call only because you are looking to let people catch cards. The more cards you can let out without losing players, the more likely it is that they will hit a card and come out betting. Always check flopped quads, even in EP at a full table - you don't want to do anything that prevents people seeing the next card.

I do realize how lucky I got. And the funny thing is I have flopped quads twice in my (flopped not hit) and both times its been 8s but the first time was with a pp. I personally like the 3 8s on the board rather than with a PP because with the pp people could expect trips, unless of course they hit a straight or flush.

This is a very common line for playing quads, but not necessarily always the best one. Against a lot of good players, they'd naturally assume this is how a newby player would play it, hoping to trap them... Betting it out DOES have matter on occasion.

It really depends on who I was playing with, but in most cases, if I flopped quads and was first to act, and I knew some other people in the game were the aggresive type, I'd check 'em. I would hesitate after any bet and then smooth call.

If your table image is that of an aggresive player, you might take a little stab at it and make people think you're trying to steal it, but I'd say 99% of the time I'm checking flopped quads.

Bet on the flop, check on the turn, bet on the river. You'll make millions.

If you always bet, they can never tell the difference. Twisted Evil

You are not wrong, but how many good players are you up against at a table like that? You fold, I win again frey 8)
