Went to my first home tournament tonite after playing online for years.
$100 buy in, 30 people playing NL, damn good time right there.
But one thing that bothered me was that after people started to fall out of the game and the tables were not even, they couldn't decide on who to move and where to move them to. This was a 10 minute debate everytime. Do you move the big blind, small blind, short stack, last dealer etc...
So my question... Who do you move and where do you seat them at the next table?
Thanks.
And no I wasn't in the money, but the experience I gained tonite was just the sweeter.

The last multi-table home tourney I played, we simply high-carded for who had to move to the other table. The player who moved should get to sit in a position relative to the big blind as close as possible to where they were at the table they came from. In other words, if they were two hands away from the big blind, they should be seated two seats away from the big blind at the new table.

I also recommending using high (or low) card for a table move. For where to go-have the seats (table # and seat #) printed on cards or pieces of paper. Once it is decided who will move, put the open seats face down on the table and make them draw their own seat.
Keep everything as random as possible. That is the most fair.

we take the player who was elimimateds seat and move the dude who was in the same seat in relation to the button on another table. That way there is no complaining about hitting the BB 2 hands in a row.

I think nic's right. If there's a table of 10 and a table of 8, let's say, you take someone in the same seat (relative to the button) from the 10 and put them at the same relative seat in the 8.
