Vegas Question - Which casino pokerroom has most fish?

Posted Mon Dec 12, 2005 12:01 pm GMT by bunit
I'm going to Vegas in 2 days. Wanted to try my hand at live poker. What casino there has the loosest games?

I've been to Vegas a few times, and have only played poker at the Stardust (I usually play craps in Vegas).

Staying at the Trop. Any advice would be appreciated.

Excalibur has a pretty loose game.

From my experience, Vegas is MUCH easier to beat than online or local casinos that get a lot of regular players.

I like the Mirage. 6/12 or 10/20 is pretty easy. If you are worried about better players, avoid the Bellagio.

Also, beware of the times that you play. Late night, early morning is the best time for taking advantage of tourists and drunks. Lots of regulars (old tight retirees) play all day long, then clear out around dinner time.

Anywhere you go, if you are a decent player, you should be better than most at the table.

I agree with Dave. I made more in three days playing in Vegas at the MGM Grand then I have all year playing online. If you are an average player, you will be fine.

Thanks, that is good to know. I'll give an update when I get back.

Yep, I agree with the above. Be careful what you ask for in terms of loose games at Excalibur. Amazing what people will call down with. It's lottery poker there.

For loose but not insane (eg to minimise suckout potential while still raping the opposition) stick to the big names but avoid the top end casinos. My advice would be to go no fancier than the Mirage so like Dave says, avoid Bellagio and I would add that you ought to avoid Wynn's. Paris, Bally's, MGM, Mirage & Harrah's ought to all be ok - Mirage is the best in my experience with some truly shocking players who won't accept they are beat until they are paying thru the nose Laughing

I really like the poker room at Alladin.
One of the dealers mentioned that it is the longest walk from the parking garage to the card room of any casino on the strip (which should mean less locals, more fish) I have pretty consistantly won money there playing 200NL (6 nights there in the last 18 months or so)
Tough part is there are more bad beats with that many fish (although in the long run it is those same bad calls that make you money)

MJJ, have you ever made the walk from the taxi drop-off at the mgm to the card room??? My God! 7 minutes 1 way at LEAST...past 5 million slot machines...

I have, but it took me 20 minutes- I get lost every time I go into the MGM

If I remember correctly, just keep bearing left until you come to the lion habitat...bingo, poker room.
