i found these on ebay, i'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about them. seems like a pretty cheap deal for a "REAL" clay chip set, so i'm a little skeptical. any info is appreciated.
also, if you look closely at the chips in the pics it looks like some of them have a ring around the outside edge, specifically the $50 and $100 chips. i just got a sample set of chips from a different site and one of the chips has that same ring. it's an injection molded chip, so i'm wondering if that's a problem with all injection molded chips, or is it something totally different?

Those look to me like "Nexgen" chips with labels intended to kinda look like Paulsons. They are NOT clay chips. IMO they're not much like clay chips, some like them, some don't. That would be a rockin' deal on Nexgen chips with labels and a case though since those sell for .20-ish each without labels. You can see Nexgen chips at 5stardeal dot com.
Good luck, get samples, buyer beware, etc.

100% pure-clay injection-molded chips? Sounds pretty cool to me! Not!

i'm not sure how the ebay chips are produced, i meant that the chip that i had received in a sample set was injection molded and has the same ring as the ones on ebay appear to have.

The thing about chips is this. You get what you need or want. There is no middle ground. If you are planning on using them then I would get a decent set of average chips. If your collecting them and only want to use them occasionally then go for a better set.
This set didn't seem bad for the price. Personally I would look around a little more. That shipping looks like it could really kill you.
I doubt those chips were 100% clay. More likely a clay composite. They looked decent and had the denominations marked on them. If this is the type of chip your looking for then nothing wrong with this set but I would shop around before paying that high of a shipping charge. Many local stores are carrying good poker chip sets at resonable prices. They may not be Paulsons or other top brands but they work and look better then the old plastic chip.

I didn't think they were bad for the price. The defenitely weren't clay chips. You pay a premium for true compression molded clay chips like paulson. I agree with the guy that said they are nexgens with labels that look like the paulson home chips.

I have a large sample set of chips from this mold and they are not clay. They look like the 13g chips available from pokerchipshopping except that these have different colors. The edges in the photos are really, really ragged looking.
Also, on the samples I have, the injection point was inside the center label mounting point. In order to put labels over the teat I had to use an x-acto knife to shave it off.
Heft and feel of my sample chips was good but they scratched easily with a thumbnail.

A co-worker of mine purchased these chips a couple of months ago. We looked at it when he received the chips at work and they felt like wax. Shuffling the chips left shaved materials from the edges everywhere. Its easy to scratch off the edges with your fingernail. They do not have metal inserts in them so we were able to snap the chips in two by using our index finger and thumb. All in all its a really crappy product even for the price they are selling it for.
If given the choice to pick this set and a cheap metal insert set sold on ebay, I would buy the metal insert set in a heartbeat. Trust me you cannot compare these to nexgens. Nexgens dont fall apart when you touch them.
My co-worker ended up returning the product and paying restocking fee for these crappy chips.

Someone should report that guy for false advertising.
