This is the gayest hand I have ever played because of the timing of it. Bad beats I can handle, it happens, but when you are within touching distance of the $500K Stars event, it blows.
I didn't grab the history but it went like this:
We are 4 handed in a 18-man SnG to the main event. Level is 200/400 +50 and I have about 6500TC.
I pick up K7o in the BB. UTG calls and it folds round to me. I check.
Flop K78 rainbow.
I min bet and he raises 3 times. I re-raise and he shoves. I call without thinking and he shows AA.
Turn is a J
River is a J
My monster aces-cracking-BB-special is counterfeited by running cards higher than my second pair and the chump takes it. I am in a bad place right now

Think of it this way...at least it didn't happen when you were within touching distance of cashing in the 500k guaranteed.
I love nothing more than busting chumps getting cute with big hands though, and definitely feel your pain. Also, I concur that it's one of the gayer hands ever. Flopping two pair against aces only to get counterfeited screams homosexuality in a way that nothing else can.

I posted the same beat a couple of days ago. Guy limps with AA, my JT hits 2 pair, then he picks up running 9’s :
Maybe it was the same guy That cost me a cash game buy-in though, rather than a tourney.

i sometimes limp with aces to fugg with ppl. i've taken a lot more than i otherwise would have a few times by doing this. generally i have a standard amt i raise... but on occasion, it's fun to screw with folks. it's really risky and i've totally screwed myself over on a few occaions, but needless to say, i've done it.
this isn't to say the guy KNEW what he was doing. likely he was just a tool who got lucky.
