In a tournament with 5 ppl I was short stack while the rest were all pretty even. All folded to the button who called the big blind. I went all in with 8 6 (all in was 7 times the bb). He called with 5,5 and I ended up doubling up with a pair of 8's. Everyone was yelling at me for bad play but I want to know who made the bigger mistake. When shortstack I would rather go in with low suited because most ppl will call with a high/low. And with 5,5 he called an all in worth 7 times the bb with 5,5.

Nobody made a mistake. You have to gamble when you have only 7 or 8 big blinds left. Neither of you did anything wrong.

I forgot to mention that I would be stealing 10 chips in value. Which is pretty small in our game where we start with 179 chips in value.

I don't blame you for your play. I've found a lot of times people will limp in with shiat because they're in position. Actually I think you made a good play you just didn't want a caller.
I had a similer situation in a live 2TT where the short stack pushed from the button. I was in the BB with 7 8 and called since I was getting roughly 3-to-1. Busted him when he showed AK and a ragged flop came. He was pissed but the same MF-er destroyed my stack when he flopped his underset earlier in the match and then proceeded to act like Phil Hellmuth about it so I was loving the tantrum when he got cracked by 78 .
