I'm thinking fold. Villain could have AJ, AQ with 1 Club , easily dominating you. He could also have something like KJ Club , etc etc etc. Easy laydown imho.

He's probably playing his big stack, but I think I would lay it down here. Of course I made this exact call in a cash game yesterday so.....

Since he moved all in, I have a hard time putting him on a big hand here. I would call. :D

If you fold, you have 1250 chips left with 5 remaining. You need a hand to get in the money & I think this hand is as good as any.

He is the big stack - No way could I see him pushing there with KJ Club

I love this move by the BB ... here's the beauty of it ...

You almost "can't call" without at least a club, you're still in contention if you fold this, but he's still gonna have a huge stack if you call and he loses. He practically doesn't have to look at his cards to make this move work.

I'd fold because I'm weak tight in situations like this (there's always a better spot right?), but I think calling is fine assuming that a) this is a decent buy-in ($33 and above) and b) the way the big stack got his chips wasn't in a donk way. I say this because that means he's thinking, and if he's thinking, he makes this move with any two cards.

Problem here is if you're wrong, and he has something like AxX Club , you are in a horrible place.

I disagree - If he has Ax with a club (A pretty good possibilty I think), you are still ahead since he has 12 outs. I don't put him on better than A10 with the smooth call pre flop. So even with that hand, you are favored. You need to double up at this point.

There is always a better spot? Getting kind of late in the game for that... He has an M of just over 8, which is actually a little lower with 5 people left (I can't remember the conversion formula in a short handed game).

Sorry, meant Ax + jack or better of clubs

Oh, totally then. I just didn't put the big stack on such a good hand with the smooth call pre flop - Usually they are pushing people around....

Thanks for the replies. I should point out, I didnt say who I was. I was in the big blind with the big stack.

Oh, you sneaky little devil. Laughing

Did you have A Diamond 8 Club ????

Or maybe even a hand like 7 Diamond k Club?????? This would give you even more outs.

no, much worse. You guys give me too much credit.

As it turns out, I was the favorite (14 outs). But I was being quite the bully. I just didnt see him calling at that point without a monster. I put him on an Ax, something good enough to raise the big stack with, but not good enough to go all in with.

I was right with my read, I just didnt think he would call there.

I hate reading correctly, making my move, then have them do something unexpected.

So how bad was it?

Posted Tue Dec 27, 2005 3:27 pm GMT by Dave B
67 w/ a club.

AND, I would likely play it this way every time in that position.

I think you both played it fine.

I think that guy needed to double up. Because of this, I would have been a little more careful with my chip lead, but there is nothing wrong with being agressive - Especially since you thought he would fold.
