I checked out a cardroom in Sacramento while I was visiting my folks over the Christmas break called Lucky Derby... not a bad club, as they have decent food and service, and seven tables. They have a tournament every Tuesday $50 + $10, so I decided to give it a shot, as the players were so terrible. Unfortunately, the tournament was quite terrible as well, with each player having only 1800 chips, blinds starting at 25/50, with levels every 20 minutes (50/100 - 100/200 - 200/400 - 300/600 - 500/1000 - 2000/4000 - 3000/6000 - 5000/10000 cap). I was doing ok, had about 6000 in chips by the 500/1000 level (sadly, that was a lot at my table). I had AK on the button, every folded to me, I pushed, and ran into AA in the small blind who was the only guy at my table with more chips than me. Bummer.
But on the upside, they had an Omaha 8-or-better game going there, and man was it great. $6/$12 ($8/$16 kill) with some of the worst players you've ever seen. Almost EVERY hand every other player took a flop, calling raises with hands like 9943 offsuit. Even better, they chased crappy lows all day and called down sets with flushed boards. After only 2 hours, I was up about $200, simply by playing BASIC Omaha8 strategy. I wish I had longer to spend there, because that game could pay my bills in a day or two. Gotta love the fishies! :D

Want to here about a bad torney format. All the casinos in our area only run one format. NL hold'em rebuy where you buyin 10 big blinds at a time, (1000 chips blinds 100 and 100).
I've never seen anything so pointless. It's like playing bingo.
