I don't think your pre-flop call was loose at all. Just because someone raises, it doesn't mean they have you beat.

I will reraise with 99 if I have position, which you didn't...but still, calling 200 more from the small blind? Nh sir.

Let me pose a question to you Lex,

What's your plan if:

a) one over flops, i.e. Jxx Qxx or 10xx
b) the big overs flop Kxx, Axx
c) any two overs flop
d) all unders flop

Pot is 600 and you have 1200 in your stack, I don't like being in this spot.

Salche, its called playing poker. I think the call is fine, take a flop and go from there. Yeah, you may run up against a bigger overpair from time to time and lose your stack, but you may flop a set and take the big overpair's stack.

At a five handed table, this could easily be AKo, AQs/o, AJs/o, ATs, KQs. I love the call, and I MAYBE reraise push depending on a read. Nice flop though. Smile

a) Fold to a bet
b) Fold to a bet
c) Fold to a bet
d) Bet (I'd probably call a re-raise all-in too hoping he married AK and then bust to his AA Razz)

A little loose? not at all!

5 handed i would prolly have reraised him all in Laughing but that's me unfortunately Embarassed

You did of course play it correctly and as so often happens, correct play got rewarded :D

His play with AA here was a little weak, I would have bet out more on the flop with AA for sure, that would be the only way he would stand a chance of getting off tis hand. If he had bet out say 600 post flop and you had flatcalled, surely then he's got to start thinking? You flatcalling 300 tells him nothing, in fact i'm betting that he (like many others) assumed his AA was golden the whole way.

Nice hand sir!

Oh hey that reminds me, i cracked AA in a pretty much identical way in this very tourney i'm playing right now.

Phil, it's very hard to play poker with 12xBBs in your stack (or two times the flop pot size)

Believe me if the stacks are bigger I call this everytime ... I'm just saying this is pretty close to a push/fold situation.

Eh, maybe I am a push monkey ... it works better at Party I suppose

I think it can go either way still though (push/fold or call and pray)

99 is a shitty hand to be playing with 15xBB really because I'm looking to fold unless I flop all unders or a set which is what, about 7.5 to 1? I'm calling at 3.75 to 1 pre-flop so really it's not a good play in purely statistical terms.

However, I felt that if I missed, I could fold myself down to 12xBB and still be OK given that this was at Stars with their 10min blind levels. Spud and SantM were both under 2000TC and I was pretty sure I could steal like a madman before the 75/150 level if need be and still get ITM even after folding on the flop here.

I still think it was a little loose and I think I'd only do it maybe 1 in 3 times depending on the players and the situation but this time it worked out so I'll take it.
