MGM Vegas Tournaments

Posted Wed Jan 04, 2006 1:45 pm GMT by ZZZinindy
Here's the question to you locals and/or those that have played in them.

Are the NL tournaments at 11am & 6pm at the MGM worth the effort?

I have played at the NL table's here in the past and love them.

Are the players in the tournaments locals or the tourists?

Thanks,

ZZZ

what are the buy ins?

I havent played many NL tournaments, but it seems like $200-300 is the min for good local players. But these still have a large number of complete fish just looking to play a poker tournament.

The $100 and under are mainly rookies and tourists.

This is based on the 5-6 that I have played in various places out there.

Most live tournaments I've seen with a buy-in much less than $100 - $150 are, unfortunately, a glorified crap shoot and "all-in Hold'em" at its finest.

Never played a Vegas tournament though, so I can't say what they're like.

The 11am is $50 buy in 1200 starting chips and 20min blinds.

The 6pm is $100 buy in 1500 starting chips and 30min blinds.

I'm sure that the 11am is going to be a loose game, but I was thinking the 6pm would be a little more realistic at $100 buy in and 30min blinds.

I have a buddy coming with me and he wants to get his feet wet so I thought this would be as good as place as any.

I know we won't be going to the Luxor or the Excaliber from the reviews I've read about the "all-in" fests.

thanks

ZZZ
