Biloxi?

Posted Wed Mar 10, 2004 6:05 pm GMT by ballbp
Alright, thanks to all of you I know where to play from Canada to Vegas, but being in Georgia, Biloxi is the closest town with poker that's not video junk. So the question is, anybody here play there or what? A group of us are heading down this weekend and the last I heard the Grand was the only casino there that even had poker. Is this still true? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Being there's only a handfull of casinos there I'm sure I could just call ahead but you guys haven't steered me wrong yet so just thought I'd ask. Thanks

And how old do you have to be to play poker, is it 18 or 21 there?

Hey ballbp,

The wife and I were in Biloxi last October. Unfortunately I didn't get to hit the poker room... the only one I know of is in the Grand Casino.

Good luck!

Thanks Brian. I just got back from the Biloxi trip and yep the Grand is STILL the only place with a poker room. And even then, there are only 21 tables. Some stud variations but mostly hold'em ranging from 4/8 to 40/80. The wait wasn't too bad when we got there at 3:30pm so I bought a $100 rack and they eeked it out of me in a couple of hours after being dealt the worst cards I've seen since I started playing so we went to check in. Yeah, we played a session before we even checked in. Laughing When we got back around 8:00pm there was a little over an hour wait but well worth it. I almost doubled my rack in the first six hands and never looked back. Decided to call it quits about 3:00am when the cards seemed to be going away. Overall, a nice trip.

Ball, can you tell me how old you have to be to play there?

Sorry, I didn't ask about the age requirement. I'm under the impression that it is 21 though because they checked ID's at the front of the casino. You could get the number off the website and give them a call but with the ID check at the door I don't see how they would let you in if you're under 21.

21 to play. All casinos mainly in America. Florida, California, and a couple in New York are the only ones with 18. If they serve alcohol (which Grand in Biloxi does) then it is 21.

Thanks for the trip report! I'll definitely have to try it out next time we go. It's one of the few drivable casino locations I can get to (within 8 hours)...

I imagine we'll be going back there again as we had a great time.

Glad to hear you ended in the profit category!

In all honesty, I ended up down $250 for the trip. While I made a profit at the poker tables, I was constantly recovering from losses at the blackjack tables while waiting for a seat at the poker table. I should have just waited for my seat not even looked at the blackjack table but I was ready to gamble and that's just what I did. I wasn't the only one in our group that swore to never play any other table games again.

Hey ballbp, I feel your pain from the Blackjack table. I just got back from Shreveport on Mon. and donated $350 to the casino while my buddy ended about $500 down Shocked . We'll be back in July to get our revenge Twisted Evil and I think this time we'll just camp out in the poker room at Hollywood and stay clear of the other tables too Wink

If they don't charge a rake, the odds aren't in your favor. :-)

Bilox is not the closest to you in GA. Pearl River Resort in Philadelphia, MS is a 5 hour drive. On weekends they spread 3-6 and 10-20 and occasionally a 20-40 game. Check out their web site for directions.

Thanks for the heads-up. What is the site? And if it's five hours away, it must be close to Biloxi but I'm always up for anything new.

The last time I was in Biloxi , which was Mardi Gras in Feb.,they had poker at both Grands , the El Presidente, and the new Copa. Not a lot of tables at any of them , but real live poker nontheless..

If you're taking the kids to Fla to see the mouse, you might want to check out the dogtracks. New Fla law let them open poker rooms up to Max $2 bet , 4 raises per round. I know the tracks at Daytona beach , Palm Springs and Bayard near Jacksonville all have card rooms now. There are others I haven't played at. The one in Jax is 50 tables.
