I've said it before, but once I get down to 10BB, it's push or fold for me. Your probably only getting called by overcards. The lack of a raise in front of you makes the decision somewhat easier I think. I like it personally. I would have done the same thing, especially with the limpers in front of you. The extra chips are a nice added incentive.

You're probably going to get one caller with overcards here, but I'd be careful pushing in this situation, because you might get two (or more) callers with big stacks because of the pot size, which is really bad for pocket 5's. Best case scenario if you get called by two people is that they share at least one card. Pushing here is risky, but you don't have a lot of choice with your stack size. If you get called and double up, you'll have some room to play, but pushing here could also sandwich you in between two stacks (unless no one in your table has a very big stack).

If only one person (or no one) who limped has a stack worthy of calling you, I'd push. But if it looks like two or more people might call, I'd fold and wait to push in a spot where I can be the one to open the pot, or a pot with only one or two limpers instead of 4.

In any case, you'll probably need to win a toss-up to stay in here unless you get dealt something great.

I think reads/stack sizes on the specific players who limped are very important here. I think this play is pretty much 'standard' since even if you added the caveat of: You will get one caller with two overcards 100% of the time, it's still a significantly positive play. The tricky part is, what the hell are these people limping with? The later two limpers don't have to have any strength at all to limp here, so they might frequently fold... and the earlier two limpers have to have some serious strength to get involved after your push. Problem is, the first limper might just have that. Does he limp frequently? If he's a fairly reasonable and aggressive player.. blegh. EP Open limps from reasonable/godd players when the blinds are climbing/stacks are short = I run screaming like a little girl.

This is especially true if he's a smaller/medium stack, and less true if he's the chip leader. Also of note: is this table generally loose, or tight? You're still going to be in LP/MP for a few hands. Do you're think you're likely to get a few profitable steal situations after this if you fold, or is every pot some twelve handed aberration?

I can't fault a push here, and probably do it myself unless limping is frighteningly uncharacteristic for the first limper in his situation. There's almost too much money in the pot NOT to do everything in your power to win it.

I know I'll probably be in the minority here, but I favor either just playing for the 1,200 BB and seeing a flop, or just folding pre-flop.

If you call and a 5 comes, you might milk a tremendous pot. No 5, you get out cheap enough.

If you fold, I'm guessing you don't regret it when flop is high cards and at least you still have ur chips.

I forgot to add that there's a decent chance one of the early limpers has a small pocket pair higher than yours also, and if you go all-in will likely call you making you a big dog.

With 10 BBs or less, if I'm opening, I'm doing it for my stack with any medium ace, any pp, and any 2 paints.

At 5 BB's or less I do that loonbat. At 10 BB's, I'm looking at any PP above 5 or AJ, AQ, AK.
