I was pleased with my play in this game. Pretty tight table overall. Was able to bully my way to HU as chip leader. Ended up taking second place in about 3 hands flat
This hand did occur though that I was not pleased about at all. Just did not know what to do. If I make a sizeable re-raise and he comes over the top of me, it's going to be practically an all in situation isnt it? Do I want this here? I didn't think so anyway.
I ended up folding after totally confusing myself.
Any opinions?

Personally any lay down you walk away from is a good one.. . Seriously you really can't conclude much of what he had pre-flop or if that helped him or not. What was your previous read on this player? He could have had a 22, 33 or QQ (most likely) and hit a set. He could have AQ and hit TPTK now. Without knowing for sure and with a mid-sized pp I think your lay down was good.

I would focus on the money aspect of this hand instead of the cards that flopped. I don't blame you for calling that preflop bet because if you hit a set or all lower cards hit, your hand is likely good.
If you fold here, you still have 3940 in chips, which puts you a close second. If you call and lose, you are a the short stack with about 1400 and with the blinds at 400 you would be forced to push within 3-4 orbits.
Is it worth the risk? I would be inclined to say "No". Keep your nice chipstack and wait for a better spot to gather chips.
