Home game legality

Just browsing through Bluff and All In last night at the store. One of them had an article discussing where home games are legal or not which was kind of interesting.

The authorities in St. Louis need to find something else to do.

I always thought that home games were legal provided the host does not take a cut / rake.

I think it also has to do with how much money is lost/won. If it is below that limit, it is legal. I think the limit is like 5 dollars loss and like 50 to win, I think. May just be Iowa Law though.

It all depends on the state. In South Carolina if there is money on the table they can take you to jail and any of the equipment that was being used to play can be taken away. ie the poker table.

Yeah. I think you'll at least be LEFT ALONE for the most part as long as you don't take a rake. However if you DO for whatever reason, here in Washington State they'll be on you like $#!T on velcrow.
