50NL on stars...haven't got the hand history. Sorry.

Villain is an ok player. Has shown down very good hands, but has also shown some well timed bluffs. Hero has been playing ABC poker.

Hero in SB is dealt AKo.

3 limpers, including villain who is 2 seats in front of the button.

Hero raises, making it $2.50 to go.

1st limper and villain both call. Villain now has position.

Pot is $8.50ish.

Flop 7 Club 10 Heart K Spade

Hero leads out with $2. 1st limper folds, Villain smooth calls.

Pot is now $12.50

Turn J Club

Hero leads out with $5. Villain raises to $11.

Hero???

Call if you have the A Club for sure. Otherwise, it looks like he just completed a flush draw and is value-raising. Whatever he has, I'm guessing you're beat right now.

Edit: read the rest... it will make sense.

Horrible board against a good villain. I don't see him raising many hands you beat here.

I fold and reload. Unless you got the A Club like Diamond said.

If he is bluffing I like this guy.

The other hand that fits his betting pattern is a set. I've seen SO many low limit players decide to gte aggressive with their sets just when the board looks like they might be in trouble. It's an odd reflex, but with a set, I think he doesn't want to give you a free card. The only thing I see wrong there is that he didn't raise enough to protect against a draw.

My analysis on the guy...

Bluff: 15%
Set: 60%
Two pair: 25%

Yeah, I was also seeing set as a definitive possibility here.

The flop is pretty draw heavy Zinn, why the 1/4 pot bet?

I gotta come clean guys...I'm the villain here ( I pulled a Dave B). Should I post the hand in it's entirety?

Yeah, please do. :D

Good thing that pansy flop bet wasn't yours.

Here it is. I saw the weak bets, and wasn't sure what to make of it. I decided to take advantage of the board and run a bluff. After the hand he claims to have folded AKo...

Oh, so it was the K Spade, not Club... interesting Zinn. You got some big balls my friend. Wink

In a tournament I would love this play... not so sure about a cash game. But your read seemed to pay off nicely, so I'll commend you for that at least. You took a big risk, but you had control of the hand, so I like it overall.

I definately would have bet about the pot after the flop. That was pretty stupid of him.

Would you have folded to a pot-sized bet on the flop or continued to bluff?

Posted Thu Feb 09, 2006 5:01 pm GMT by zinn0
I think if he had come out strong on the flop, I would have dumped it. Something told me he was somewhat weak...He says he had AK, but I really don't think he did now that I've had some time to think about it.

I loved this move so much I tried it last night and it works. Just don't try it against a donk who will play any A and catches his pair. Confused
