I am not sure yet. If they run two again, I will likely give one a shot. I did like the format.

Yep there running two. One in March and one in April. I'll be in Mexico when the first one is. I might play in the one in April though.
Here are the dates. March 15-18 and April 12-15.

*Entry seats are limited. Tournament pay-out based on 500 entries at $200 buy-in and $20 entry fee. Conditions and restrictions will apply. Must be 21 years of age or older to participate.

If it's like last year, they play down a field of 100 to 10. (Maybe it was 9...) then they play the final round 50 down to the money. I would not be surprised if they fill early or add a round or two.

how much is the entry fee?

Posted Tue Feb 14, 2006 8:44 am GMT by Dave B
$200+20.

It is a nice format though. 5 rounds of 100 players each. The top 20 move onto the final day. So you only need to finish in the top 20%, then the top 10%. I think that is easier than trying to get through 1000 people and finish in the top 1%.

Don't know how I missed the buy in amount- clear as day.
I'll have to do at least one of these I suppose- what's the level of play like?

Posted Tue Feb 14, 2006 11:23 am GMT by Dave B
Last year it was pretty weak. The buyin was only $100 and a lot of people just wandered off the blackjack tables to give it a try. I would say that there was 1-2 decent players at a table. It looked like at least 1/2 of the players that made it to day 2 were not that experienced.

Posted Tue Feb 14, 2006 6:28 pm GMT by JonnyBoy
Actually, it was $150+25 last year, but same deal. Only 7 chips off the blackjack table.

Real mine field with guys playing like they are at the final table in early rounds. "Hey, saw that guy on TV play that hand all in...." as his 10-2 off suit rivers your AA to bust you out early. Laughing

I was disappointed last year. But I have a lot more experience on live table tourneys going into this years play. Looking forward to it.

It's looking like I will only be playing the April events.
