Semi beginner to online hold em

Hi guys, I love the forum.
Anyway, I'm a semi new online hold em player and I wanted some advice on a couple different hand situations.
First and foremost, I am a pretty decent 'real world' player, I admit I do not have the greatest strategy in the world nor do I have the best play style, but I am very adept at reading people in the following situation.

I was playing a Heads Up SnG (50 buy in) on the BB, the SB calls and my hole cards come up A Spade K Spade

The flop shows: 10 Heart J Diamond Q Heart

So as you can see, I flopped a high straight. At this point I was down on chips, not sure of the exact amount but I had around 1200, he had 1800 and the blinds were 25/50. The entire match this guy was playing extremely loose-aggressive, to the point where it was just ridulous (calling all-in on A-7, J-3o, etc, etc)

At this point I re-raise to 500, I saw that if anything he either potentially had a lower straight, or was on a flush draw, he immediately calls all-in and I call

His cards show A Heart J Heart

The turn comes up a 7 Spade and of course the river is a 2 Heart

Now if I was sitting at a table, personally I can almost always sense when someone is on a flush or straight draw, I am by no means a poker expert but in my experience It seems as one of the easiest tells in the world, however, The fact that I was playing online against someone who was overly loose aggressive to begin with made it almost impossible to read him.

My question is, where did I go wrong? Was my initial raise to 500 way to big for my chip stack? Should I just have gone all-in after the flop knowing if anything he was only on a flush draw?

Thankyou for any advice you can give me, I have found that online hold 'em is much more difficult than what I'm used to.
Smile

Why do you necessarily think you did something wrong? You got all your chips in there with the best hand; I hardly ever mind that.

You're right in that he did have a strong draw (he thought he had three, he didn't figure you for the straight) that came through. That's part of life. Sometimes even weak draws come through.

So do you think really it was just a bad beat and not necessarily a terrible play? I was thinking that my initial raise may have come off as a bit awkward, it was just under half my chips and maybe I would have been better off just going all in?
Thanks for the advice by the way

I wouldn't put it in the category of bad beat (at least not horrible). I haven't done the math, but you were probably 55/45 or some such.

I can't say whether the betting was awkward or not; you don't give enough information about the betting as it transpired.

All I'm saying is getting all your chips in the middle with the nuts and getting action is something you should very rarely feel bad about.

I agree. He hit one of his 9 outs. You still got your money in when you were holding the best hand. Unfortunately, it didn't hold up. That's poker.
