Its that simple huh? I mean, he is getting about 3:1 on a call when villain has an M of like 3. That guy is pushing 80% of his hands, I make the call and am pretty sure I've got two live cards. You be surprised how often he flips 67 or 8T or something you are even ahead of.

Hmmmm..... a chance to knock someone out for about 1/4 of your stack. Those aren't very good cards but I think I would call.

Ok, it's only 530 to call. I misunderstood the action...Yea, I think I make this call @ 3.25-1

Then it is worded wrong or is misleading. The history said Villain RAISED TO 880 total, when in fact he called the 300 blind and raised all in for another 880.
2:1 odds with J8o....I fold this and let him steal my blind for this time around.

Ok, I revert to my original decision. Easy fold.

With that amount of chips with that blind structure, I fold too. No sense risking a healthy stack with this many people left. J8 is a little weak. With a hand like A8s I might think about getting frisky.
But, calling isn't as bad as some might believe, at least not tactically. It stands a good chance of getting you a lot more chips and a tough table image. It's a gamble, but feasible. Still, strategically, I don't like putting a healthy stack on the line just to teach someone to slow down their play.

Diamond, to say that J8 is a little weak is a complete understatement.

I have a knack for that.

Ok, at only 2:1 that might make me lean to fold. However, Zinn, I think you might be underestimating the odds of J8 against a variety of hands. You are only in bad shape against 88-AA, AJ, KJ, and A8. However, villain will be pushing a wide variety of hands and will often flip over crap, even that you are ahead to. Against AK you are getting the right odds to call, plus to knock someone out in the late stages. Not saying getting 2:1 in this spot I would call automatically, but similar situations may come up where a loose call or two isn't as bad as it seems.

You might be right Phil. I guess he would still be in 3rd place even if he calls and loses. I'm too weak tight though.

This is so true. Call a shortstack's all-in with J8 and you're sending a message. 'You better have the goods honey.'
Might be more handy in a tourney where you know you will be playing for a while with the same people though.

Sorry about that. It was pretty much ripped from VC/Doyles awful hand histories. Will remember that for nex time.
Anyway, I did actually call. He had AQ and took down the pot.
I thought it was a very very hard decision. Usually if I am unsure I fold. So I was quite unhappy that I called.
Now looking back at the hand I do think I shoud have folded even though there are some arguments for a call here.
Edit/ Sorry... I left info out of the original post.
I had very recently doubled up from about 1000 chips... then after that went on a great run of cards and didnt show a hand down till this point. If this helps?
