Man I've had a bad few days of poker. On wed., I had a GREAT day, I mean it was like the poker gods were making up for all the bad days I'd had. EVERY hand I showed down at the river was a winner, and this is over a 5 hour stretch! Unheard of, especially for me. I had bought in originally for $100 (NL 100-300 table). I cashed out 5 hours later with $1500. And that was only having 1 pp the entire time, 8's, that I had to lay down. I was playing super tight, and just dragging huge pots. Making good laydowns, reads, etc.
But that's not what the original post is about now is it? No no, it's about the poker gods getting even with me over the following few days. Apparently they'd made a mistake, and made me give it all back. I was playing good poker, tight, good laydowns, etc. When I got my money in there, it was almost always with the best hand. One of the few times it wasn't, I had jacks and he had queens. OK, I can deal with that.....till the flop comes QQ whatever. Yeah, that's just a slap in the face.
But even that's nothing. Try getting your money in there with QQ against QJ, preflop. And the board gives us both a Q high straight. Guess I should be thankful that J came so I didn't just lose outright. Or how about when I got in cheap on the SB with 67 suited, and flop 2 pair. Bet out, and get raised by the person I REALLY wanted to, the idiot who overvalues everyhand. I'm all in, he calls. He's just got a pair of 7's, jack kicker. Just as I figured.....oh wait, the board makes itself a nice little straight, and the idiot gets away with a split pot....
Another hand, I raise preflop with AK. Flop comes complete junk. I know neither of these guys have anything but big cards, I push all in. Get called (after thinking for a bit, than a "oh what the hell") by AQ offsuit. Nice, got this one lined up.....oh wait, runner runner flush for him....of course.
Or the last hand I played last night, in the BB with AK. The whole table limps. I push all in, because if I raise to like 25 or 30, I'm gonna get 3-4 callers at least. I get called INSTANTLY by first position. I'm thinking I'm in a coin flip. Before we can flip up our hands, dealer deals out the flop. QJ something. Than I see the guys hand. KQ unsuited....he called a $200 dollar raise with KQ unsuited. OK, maybe I shouldn't have pushed all in there (I admit, I was a little off my game at this point, but still...I wouldn't call it a HORRIBLE play).
There were more, I just can't remember. I try to get over these bad beats and just move on, but these ones REALLY stuck out in my head. I've lost 1200 of the original 1500 I'd won on the other day, and that's just buying in 100 at a time. Almost every time, I'm in there with WAY the best of it, usually in a very dominating situation, and manage to snatch defeat (or tie) from the jaws of victory. Usually I'm good at taking my beats, and just shake em off and get back to my game. But man, it was really getting hard near the end there, especially that KQ, that one REALLY stung.
I know this maybe should have gone in the bad beat section, but I'm not really sitting here complaining. Just looking back and shaking my head, as I envision the poker gods snickering and pointing.

So all the money you won was due to your amazing play and all the money you lost was due to bad luck?

Now was that really necessary? I never claimed to be a pro, but I'm pretty confident my play is pretty solid. I never said all the money I won was due to "amazing" play, but what I feel is pretty good play. I don't think that really needed a smart ass reply. Next time just don't say anything if you feel the need to be a dick.
