Home Game Tourney help

Posted Mon Feb 20, 2006 11:07 pm GMT by bigsmooth
Just found these forums and I got to say I am impressed and excited. I don't think my poker buddies know about this place yet.

Please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong forum.

I am having my first big home game this weekend. I am having a 14 player tourney at the house. $25 buy in and no re-buys. I need some help.

1. How many/much chips should each player get.
2. When should blinds go up and what should the blind structure be?
3. What should the payouts be? We usually only pay the top 2 in a smaller game but I think that we should pay 3-4 this weekend.

Any advice and input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance and I am looking forward to learning in these forums.

My advice is that each player gets 3 colored chips.
Chip Worth: 1000 - 500 - 100.

Chips to each player: 10000, 11000 or something like that.

Blinds increase after 6-10 minutes (starts with SB 100 - BB 200).

Payouts: 1st place: 55%, 2nd place: 32%, 3rd place: 13%.

Or 500-100-25 or 100-25-5 -- That way each chip is a multiple of 4 or 5 of another. Each player can start with two different color chips, and you can introduce the third color during a color up.

40 Chips

All equal to One.

If u want action thats the best set up with Blinds at 1-2 to start then Raises up everytime two people get kicked out and every Five Mins when it gets heads ups.

Thats a Real cheap and fast Turny.
its the way the Tuesday night Turny that I play from time to time.
Its Hectict but does help me with my Small Stack play

All of the relation of the stacks to the blinds depends on how long you want your home game tourney to last. We usually go at about 12-15 minute blinds, stacks of about 1500, and blinds starting at 10/15.

Make sure someone brings a stopwatch with a countdown timer... it helps immensely.

Or if you have a computer/laptop handy, there are some nice free/donation-ware tournament managers out there.
