My last home tournament, a loud gasp erupted from the table after the river showed:
I'm a somewhat aggressive player, relative to those in my usual group. I'm dealt a pair of Jacks, and the flop shows all undercards, rainbow. Feeling good about it, I call an opponent's all-in. I was not happy to see his cowboys. Turn is no help to either of us, but that sweet river gave me the third Jack and the win.
A few hands later, I get dealt another pair of Jacks. I was so freaked by what had happened last time, I folded 'em (good thing, too. I'd have been up against ladies that time)!
The same tournament, I called another all-in, reducing me to virtually nothing. And I lost. Other players had at least 20 times what I had. But, knowing that I play more poker than they do, they're salivating to eliminate me. I get A-7 offsuit, and decide that this is where I'll make my stand. I get FIVE callers. And flop two pair. I win that hand, and am almost back in. Some tighter play, plus giving them another chance to get rid of me with an all-in gave me the chip lead again. The guys were amazed. They had me dangling over the edge of a cliff, but just couldn't manage to push me off.
I ended up coming in second, after calling my last opponent's all-in, with about a 50-50 chance to win the hand, and he got a good flop. Brought me back down to virtually nothing, and that was it.
Anyways, thought I'd share.

my question is, why was the kid allowed to get betting advice from another player??? i would have told the guy to shut his pie-hole.

It was my 8-player home tourney, with $20 buy-in. First got $100; I got $40. Third got their $20 back. Now that my extra chips have arrived, we're looking at having up to 16 people for the next game, with first place taking home about $200... Tasty!

That sucks, but I've seen worse beats than that. In fact, I've had them happen to me.
I had pocket queens and flopped trips, go all in for i cant remember how much. Someone called with A2, they had just a pair of twos, but they got two running aces to beat me.
