Im heading to foxwoods the middle of next week and i was wondering if i should play at the 2/4 tables or the 4/8 w/ a $150 bankroll. I know the standard is usually 50x the BB and 100x the small blind, but im going to be playing around 12 at night and im expecting a lot of fish because a lot of colleges around new england are on break. Ive never played in a casino, just online and the highest limits ive played online is 2/4 but ive been pretty successful at it. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

I assume you are talking 2/4 and 4/8 limit? If so, I would definitly go with 4/8. From (limited) personal experience, low limit casino games are a freakin gong show. The times I've played $4/8 at my local casino have had 6-8 people seeing every flop and 3+ going to showdown. Cards win these games, players don't.
That said, stay away from the lowest limit game there. That is where the complete rookies hangout. A few rookies at a table is nice, but when it is you and 9 of them who do not fold a single hand, you have to showdown to win. If they offer 2/4 then the 4/8 game should be *okay*.

Even with $150 a 4/8 limit game will be fine? That seems a little low for a game like that, but i dont want to play with donks who call every time on the 2/4 table either, i get enough of that when i play at school.
I think ive narrowed it down to the $1/2 no limit game or the 4/8 limit game. The nice thing about the no limit games there are the max buy-in at a table is $100 so i wont feel like i dont have enough chips to start with when i sit down at a table.
One other thing, what about etiquette at the casino...such as when/how much to tip the dealer, waitress if she gets u drinks, etc. Thanks

Play the $1/2. At least there you can make the fools pay.
Dealer: Throw him a couple bucks if you win a nice pot (nothing if you just pickup blinds)
Waitress: Depends I guess. Here I pay about $5 a beer so I usually toss her a buck.

FW doesn't have a 1/2 limit game and the NL game is a rip-off unless you win a big hand early.
I've played the 4/8 with around $150 before and did fine. It's slightly better than the 2/4 game, but still pretty close.
I don't tip more than a buck a win usually. How much you win is irrelevant to how good a job the dealer is doing for the most part and they don't keep individual tips anyway, it all goes in a big pot that they chop later. If I win $2 or $200 in a hand I'll tip the same.

Im assuming because they charge $5 for every 1/2 hour of play for 1/2 NL. The 4/8 limit games they take a normal rake. I guess it will be a game time decision when i get there, although it def. seems like you can win a lot more playing NL with people calling you all the time as opposed to limit tho...

OK, thanks...I didnt know about the hourly fee.

FWIW, most higher stakes games are all time charge games. If you're running good, it's great. If you're running bad, it sucks. I actually prefer time charge games because you never have to chop blinds. Of course, there are still people that ask and I have to berate them for it.

if they charge 5 dollars for each half hour, then do they have a rake system? or is that their rake and for the dealers they get tipped?
i haven't played in a casino yet, i've played many live and online but have not played at the casinos.

Time charge games are not raked. The house takes the $5 for the half hour up front, and the pots are unraked. You still need to tip the dealer.
Money probably works out to be the same at a full table, raked or time charge. 25-30 hands per hour at $4 max rake is pretty close to $100 time charge for an hour at a 10-seat table.
