I find myself butting heads again with a PS player called 'Devilstrix' who I had a funny game with not long ago (thread here) and I get this hand. I limp in with pocket 8s and flop my set on a board that is suited twice. I am on the button and UTG min bets the flop getting 2 callers. I raise it right up as I am fairly confident that the big stack UTG will call with on a spade draw and I want us HU going into the turn. Unfortunately my old buddy decides he has a great hand and shoves. Knowing him as I do, I shove over the top now hoping that UTG will fold but he duly calls. Needless to say, both have spade draws and since I am holding the 8s, a lot of their outs are already on show. Here's how it played out:
Seat 2: Devilstrix (710 in chips)
Seat 4: GenoTHP (1165 in chips)
Seat 5: ken54stjo (3565 in chips)
Seat 6: kenny blank (4610 in chips)
Seat 8: sholtzz (3450 in chips)
kenny blank: posts small blind 25
sholtzz: posts big blind 50
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to GenoTHP
Devilstrix: calls 50
GenoTHP: calls 50
ken54stjo: calls 50
kenny blank: calls 25
sholtzz: checks
*** FLOP ***
kenny blank: bets 50
sholtzz: calls 50
Devilstrix: calls 50
GenoTHP: raises 250 to 300
ken54stjo: folds
kenny blank: calls 250
sholtzz: folds
Devilstrix: raises 360 to 660 and is all-in with
GenoTHP: raises 455 to 1115 and is all-in
kenny blank: calls 815 with
*** TURN ***
*** RIVER ***
*** SHOW DOWN ***
kenny blank: shows (a pair of Sevens)
GenoTHP: shows (three of a kind, Eights)
GenoTHP collected 910 from side pot
Devilstrix: shows (a straight, Five to Nine)
Devilstrix collected 2280 from main pot
So Mr Donk Devilstrix rivers a gutshot to steal my pot and then AGAIN has the guile to suggest he made a great play. I mean for god sake, despite his low stack, he's calling off all his chips on a 9 high spade draw after two people have basically declared that they will be going all-in if he raises. Luckily he finished 5th but not before he insulted me some more for my avatar

what he did was called a fish n chip sandwich. he knew the other players have a spade dra w and canot handle a big raise...so he raised. the pot odds werent laying him enough to shove the rest of his chips in but he made an OK move by doing it anyway inhopes that u were going to fold. but yeah u got sucked out on a 2 outer because some guy called 815 with a 7 2?

you pretty much had the best possible situation happen here ... the two of them are blocking each others draws
you were 100% correct to shove here, depending on your style you may even want to raise preflop and get your chips in against the donkey
