The Madison Kid is an obvious reference to the most sniveling, immature, brattish, annoying, abusive, ridiculous, egomaniacal, ultra-arrogant, 12-year-old-in-a-6-foot-5-body, overrated Poker player on the planet.

Is that a good enough hint? Wink

So who's playing ol' Phil?

words cut deep, friends.

I'm just happy that your obvious idol is being played by a teen sweetie.

I read it was Hayden Christensen. Crazy, eh? It was in a Bluff Magazine article

Well, I'm moving to Madison in about a month. I'm pretty much going to ya know, be "THE Madison Kid," so ya know, watch out Philly.

To be honest, regardless of all the love I have for Phil H., the movie might actually be interesting. I never read his book (Bad Beats and Lucky Draws or whatever) but I reckon a story of cutting teeth on the local/underground games in Madison, moving up through the ranks while attending school, then ending up winning the WSOP at a young age could probably be quite interesting, despite who it's based on Smile

Then again, I own High Roller, and I just heard that the first season of Tilt is on DVD, and I'll probably buy that too, so my tastes are far from 'reasonable.'

I actually read it could be Ashton Kutcher too. I have found more articles that say Christiansen, but the thought of Kutcher as Hellmuth is too funny for words.

I have to Sad It didn't contain much info anyway to be fair.

(mods, delete the link if you have to)

Again, laughing hysterically at work for no apparent reason. They're going to put me in a padded room soon.

I can see Ashton playing Phil. Isn't Hayden the kid from Star Wars Episodes Bad Worse and Ugly? If so, Kutcher would be a better fit, I think.

I don't see Hayden being...animated enough to play Phil. He seems like he would be too reserved to have a realistic looking Phil Helmuth blow-up.

As a native of the area, I wish we had a better representative. I sometimes think his behavior is just an act, but I doubt it. Rolling Eyes

Well, his attitude sucks and his whining is annoying, but you can't deny his skills.

Great...the Wisconsin bashing begins! Laughing

I must admit he has some skills, but he has some serious problems with tilt control. Part of me believes with all the hype that he gets that it's partially an act. Remember the whole bit on him meditating in WSOP 2004?

You mean people actually live in Wisconsin? Laughing
Sorry, couldn't resist.

He's not the only one, but he is now known for his blow-ups so he gets more coverage than others do. I do think part of it is an act for the cameras, but I think he really does t-i-L-t (I spelled it right this time) a lot also. When you think you're the greatest at anything, any loss can set you off. Especially if you feel it was undeserved.

*Tangent*
Are you a cheesehead by chance?

Yup...birthplace of Tom Wopat, Gene Wilder and Kurtwood Smith.

I suppose. I think attitude is one of the skills one needs to be a poker great, so that puts him nearly at the bottom of the list of greats in my book (down there with Matusow).

Do I walk around with a big foam hat? No. Am I a Packer fan? Yes.

Hey, I was deliberately leaving people out. We got both Gein and Dahmer. Also, I live in the birthplace of Liberace.

Let's not forget the brewery there. I don't drink it, but it's there.

I'll leave this one for the next person along.

I live in Virginia. My list would be way too long. 5 Presidents is just a start.
