What 64 Players Would YOU Put in the HUC?

Posted Sun Mar 05, 2006 7:59 pm GMT by xDiamond_CutteRx
I know the Heads-Up Championship is supposed to be a contest between the 64 Top Players (or at least Hold'em players) in the world... so who would you pick? I know I have a few bones to pick with this year's crop.

I would keep most of the same stars NBC picked, with the following substitutions (though not necessarily in the same brackets):

Jennifer Harman for Jennifer Tilly
Barry Johnston for Rene Angelil
Chau Giang for James Woods
David Singer for Jerry Buss
Phil Gordon for Josh Lochner
Marcel Luske for James McManus
Kathy Liebert for Steve Glassner
Bobby Hoff for Sean Sheikhan
Humberto Brenes for Dee Luong
Surindar Sunar for Tony G
Jay Heimowitz for Ernie Dureck
Tom McEvoy Evelyn Ng (sorry, Evelyn)
John Cernuto for David Williams
Farzad Bonyadi for Jeff Shulman
Dewey Tomko for Barry Shulman
David Sklansky for Chris Moneymaker
Hoyt Corkins for David Chesnoff

more subs may follow if I think of them...

Edit: Other players I might consider including would be Hasan Habib, John D'Agostino, Michael Gracz, Martin De Knijff, John Hennigan, and Alan Goehring (boy I know I'm gonna hear it for that one).

Quite frankly, I'm surprised I wasn't selected.

Yeah, same here. I'm sure I can beat René Angelil heads-up, I just don't have the bankroll...

I haven't been following this very closely so I was kind of surprised to read your list.

First, I cannot believe some of the players who were not invited!
Harman Luske, Gordon, Brenes?

Second, I cannot believe some of the ones who were!
Tilly, Woods? Give me a break.

Harman isn't that great of a heads up NL player I don't think. Though I certainly don't think J Tilly has anything on her.

If you guys think Harman and Corkins are not good heads-up NL players, you simply have not watched enough Poker.
