Hmmm. I would have done the same. You missed the flop completely.

I fold here.

If I were you, the All-In wouldn't scare me too much since it is a typical Stop N Go play...it's the CALL that I am worried about.

You have decent pot odds to make the call here, but with the flush draw on the board you almost have to take out Ace and King of spades as possible outs.

I know you must be ticked off here, but don't be results oriented. Good fold.

If I were in that position:

If Sopranos hadn't called I would have called and prayed. Since he called, I would have folded too. There's very little reason to continue with the hand except to suck out and eliminate the small stack, and Sopranos is already doing that.

Good fold.

What I'm really wondering about is my check. First to act, TOTAL miss (thanks Soup) and not even 1 spade in my hand. I felt a raise here would be fishy as hell. But I thought I let it get away from me there.

Probably bucky567 pushes as long as no A/K comes out and prays I don't have PP, but he knew I didn't because I checked.

Also, pre-flop bet too high? I regretted that because I thought I could buy it, but got called by one guy who kinda had to, another guy who, well, I don't know why he called. After the fold, I was left kinda short-stacked.

Anyway, I ended up 4th (out of 3 ITM spots) b/c I raised w/A Qo on button (w/3rd place all but wrapped up - short stack woulda been eaten up VERY soon by blinds, maybe one more?). BB pushed all in with much more than me and I thought he was being cheeky - and if you don't know by now, I HATE that!

So, instead of just being smart, I called and he turned over 10/10. To twist the knife further, he hits a 10 on flop and another on the river.

That's not a bad beat, that's just stupid.

So, what about the pre flop amount and the initial check? Not only the action/non action, but the reasoning behind it?

I have a rule myself, I don't put in half or more of my stack on a street unless I'm willing to put the rest in. So, with AK here I can't raise to 350 I must, call, raise smaller (can't do that) or push with the early caller.

The rest of the play while maybe correct was the result of a poor preflop bet to me. I'd be forced to push on the flop regardless of hitting, I'd only check it if I nailed it and wanted to slow play it.

This makes the question harder to me, was the fold good? Can't fault you for it, but the preflop bet set you up to fail. Don't expose so much of your stack and leave yourself crippled if you miss the flop, for that price you need to see all 5 cards or limp.

The problem with this play is that your preflop bet put you all-in on the flop really no matter what. I would instead raise all-in preflop, or just be prepared to push/call all-in no matter what.

The reason is, you are not going to be able to do much with 350 chips if you fold here if the blinds are this size. My personal feeling is, you need to win this hand or you might as well lose your whole stack - folding is equivalent to hitting the exit button. In addition, basically the next blind that comes by forces you all-in once you do fold on the flop - it takes about 1/3 of your stack, and their really is no hand that should fold there.

I like my odds with AK because an A or K will likely win the pot; if your opponents are short stacked they may be thinking the same thing (no matter what they are pushing the flop) so you may actually be ahead without hitting either A or K. Smile

After putting half your stack in pre-flop, check/folding on the flop is the worst thing that could've happened. Half your stack is already in, two people are already in before you, and it's a chance to triple up. You need to go for it if you want any chance of winning.

That being said, push immediately on the flop regardless of what falls. Checking gains you nothing, check/calling gives you one way to win the pot, but pushing gives you two ways to win.

That being said, push pre-flop, no question. 7BB left, AK, all you can eat.
