Last night I was playing a home game of NL. 7 person table. Start with 12,00 in chips. It was early in the tournament and I was at about 9,000. Most of the other stacks were close in range.
I am in the big blind, three people limp around to me 200/400 blinds (including the small blind). I look down at pocket jacks. Now the 3 people who are in, are players who like to see flops and play some pretty iffy hands.
I decide to raise to 2,000 total, figuring that would eliminate a couple of them. Wrong all three call. Now there is $8,000 in the pot.
The flop comes K 8 4 . The small blind checks, I put a $3,000 bet in to see if anyone caught their king. The next two players call and the small blind folds. $17,000 in the pot.
The turn comes 10 . It was my turn to act. What do you do here?
I will post the rest of the hand after some feedback. Thanks

I think you needed to bet more on the flop-at least 1/2 pot. Or check and see if someone makes a play.
A small bet isnt going to get you any info.
Given the stack sizes, I lean toward checking and see if anyone comes out. If a weak bet comes out of late position, I move all in. If someone bets 1/3 to 1/2 pot, I fold. If someone moves all in, I really consider calling.
A LOT depends on how fishy these guys are.

The two who called are somewhat Fishy and quite Fishy. I realized later I should have made my flop bet at least $4000, instead of $3000. But, with the two who called, it wouldn't have made a difference, if they like something they will continue to chase it and they would have easily called $4,000 as well.

Sound advice. I lean toward a check-raise here as well.

Well, I checked. And it checked around. The river came Q .
Not feeling comfortable that only a all-in bet would win the pot, yet if I was called I was definitely beat, I decided to check. The other two yahoo's checked as well. Which confused the hell out of me. I figured who ever had the K would at least bet something.
Showdown time. I show my Jacks and the next guy shows Q 3 for a pair of Q's. The last guy shows A 9 .
What I couldn't figure out was how he called $3,000 after the flop with no pair, no card higher than that on the board, and his only chance for a flush or straight were runner-runner. He said, he figured he had a lot of money in the pot already.

Anyways, what does that have to do with the hand in question?
