You have a big pair JJ-KK and your opponent has Ax, or you have AK and your opponent has A10-AQ. You know that the player will call your all in preflop , theres some money allready out there , but aside from the small money out there it would be you and the guy you have drawing to one live card , heads up.
You're all in pre-flop , he calls ( you know he will call this ).
Is there ever a time to not want this situation? I know you shouldnt play this way every time , change your game up and all , but if you KNOW they will call your all in preflop , and you know you either have them dominated , or drawing to one live over card , is there ever a time at a cash game to not want this?
Just curious others thoughts , i always contimplate this when i lose a massive NL pot , when some a-hole calls drawing to one live card , and catches on the river. You always think how you coulda played it diferent , but really in a cash game should you not want that call?

Nope, and not even at a tournament.
The odds you're speaking of are 70-30 or better and I'll take those anytime.
But let's say it's AT vs J9 where it's 60-40 or less, then it depends. Sometimes you don't want to take 50/50's in tournaments, especially early on because you'll have opportunities to put your money in with better odds. It depends whether you have a good read on your oponents and if you think you're better then them. If you avoid this 50/50 or 55/45 and I'd go as far as 60/40, do you think you'll find a 70/30 or better later on where you can pound on him?
Technically if you have a small pocket pair and you have a perfect read on your oponent and you can place him on two overs, but not a higher pocket pair, then you'll be at least 52/48 and you'll make a few dollars in the long run. But you don't really want that... Wait for better cituations and you'll make more money. Of course this doesn't mean always avoid these situations, just maybe don't make them the core of your poker game.

Think of it this way. You go all in with 50 bucks and he calls 50 bucks preflop all in. The odds are 70/30.
Long run: you get $70 bucks out of the $100 and he gets $30. That means you make $20 bucks every time you're in that situation.
Are you really asking if you don't want that sometimes?

Was a rhetorical question for the most part.

No when your playing with your rent money, you want everyone at the table to call and no one to catch any card that will beat you... .
Seriously I hope no one has that big of a problem to be playing your rent money at the tables. If so get help now 1-800-bets-off.

Don't think about the short term loses. You will lose this every once in a while but overall, you will make money.
