Has anyone's performance in Hold Em peaked yet? |

About 4 months ago I was a beginner at Hold Em. Now, after many hours of live play and reading two great books on low limit hold em (twice), "Small Stakes Hold Em & Winning Low Limit Hold Em"; I've gotten a hell of a lot better. My upside in 4 months has been huge and I'm wondering if I have the potential to bring it to the next level. For you guys with more experience, how has your played progressed over the years from the begining to now. Do you feel like your on top of your game or do you feel you can bring it to another level.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I don't really think Poker is a game where you can peak. There is always room for improvement.
My game has definitly improved of the last year or so but I am definitly not at the point where I would like to be. That doesn't have to do with my play necessarily but other factors such as bankroll management. The biggest improvement I have left to make in knowing when I should be playing and when I should take a couple days off.

I can remember the "good ol' days" when I was ecstatic with any A. I can remember making plays that I thought were stellar only to look back now as I've progressed and see what a true donk I was. I don't think I've "peaked" as you put it. There is always room for improvement. However, I feel that the more experience I get the better player I become, particularly in reading my opponents. I still have a long way to go, but I've come a long way too. I've learned a lot from posting and reading posts on here, but experience is the best teacher. Of course that type of education costs more.

I think after 5 months it is all downhill. After 2 books and 4 months of poker, you had better enjoy these times while you can.

Yes, I've peaked, if we define "peaked" as "playing better than at any other time in my history".
Hopefully, I have not plateaud though.

Lol Dave. Ha ha.
Yeah, this guy at the table the other day told me he's been playing for 30+ years and he wasn't all that good. He played ace rag the whole night and would call it down with the scariest boards. How can you play like that with 30 years experience. Could you imagine if Dave B. had 30 years under his belt. That dude would be pretty darn good on the expert level by then.

I feel like I'm playing better than ever in my life before... I'm really starting to play meta-Poker I think. Hopefully I'll just keep going up from here, but you never know. I feel like if I could just improve my reading skills a little bit more, I'd really have something.

Do you mostly play online or live?
Getting a "read" online takes a lot of patience and a good memory. It's still much more difficult than getting a read in live play. I could give you a few basic "vibes" that help me a great deal with my reads. I am nowhere near the best player in the world, but my reads can be uncanny at times. I have a player that's scared as hell to play with me after I called his hand on 4 different occasions during a live MTT. He won't even sit with me at a cash game.
