This is the straw that broke the camel's back. After that, I tilted off my last $1K on AP, and I am finished with poker. It's clearly not a game suited for someone with my disposition, and I can't ever remember being more miserable than I've been in the last couple weeks. While I've never actually lost money playing the game, I can honestly say there isn't a single thing about the experience that I will remember with any fondness. Instead, I grieve for the hours I wasted which would've been better spent in other endeavours.

Poker is brutal, and if quitting is right for you, well friggin quit then! We won't ever admit it, but I'm sure a lot of us respect the hell out of that.
There's two things though, and if they're not followed, I will kick you squarely in the nuts.
1)Whether this is a temporary break, or you never play again, don't you dare play again unless you enjoy it, and don't you dare stay away from the game if it turns out that it's just a shitty phase of that 'life' thing
2)Regardless of any of that, I'm gonna still end up coming out to AC at some point now that I'm 21, and if you don't at least come donk it up at $3/$6 with me or something, you know, I'll hate you more than an emo-kid hates his daddy.
Don't you dare go disappearing either, player or not a player, you still need to at least occasionally drop by here and IRC... though if it's really a 'this is hurting my life, and I know it and have to quit' thing, I can understand staying away.. can't speak for errbody, but I'd like to see you hang around.
I hope whatever happens, you kick its ass in the future. Deal?

Hey Sean. I walked for like 6 months, and I'm still not really back. At the very least you need either a break or to just play in some low money, fun home games. But if quitting is what's right then all the best man.

Do what's right for you, Sean. We will definitely miss you as you've been a force here for some time now. However, don't ruin your life for a game.
If you're not enjoying it, then you definitely shouldn't play. I'm hoping that you're just in a phase and that things will turn around for you, but I can respect the decision to stop playing if that's what's best for you.
I would like to finally meet up with you also when I hit AC again. It will probably be some time in the spring. If for no other reason, then to have a drink or two and see what you've been up to.
Snoogs, let me know when you head up to AC too. I could use you to make the hubby jealous.

Do what you feel is right and for whatever amount of time you feel you need to. Above all else next time you do play, keep it fun.

If you don't have fun playing poker, then you have to stop playing, and those beats are part of the game.
Honestly, take a break, you need it. I just took two weeks off and I feel much better myself. Do it, take a month if you need, and trust me you will be very thankful.

I'd love to say all the stuff I read here helped my game, but that's clearly not the case. It's not that the advice was bad, it was my inability to absorb it that was clearly the problem.
