I was playing with my uncle one time and he said that they rank like this
10-J-Q-K-A then A-2-3-4-5 then 9-10-J-Q-K and so on down to 2-3-4-5-6

Yes. Play with him a lot, but not by his rules. Did he also tell you that a flush beats a straight? If you read the sticky at the top of this thread it will help you a great deal with these questions.
