well, it depends on whether it happens on the flop, turn or river...cuz by the river there are more cards that they cant have...plus it obviously matters if there is 3 to a flush, 4 to a flush, or a board flush

i mean you can figure it out mathematically, but realistically, if there is a bunch of betting, the chances of somebody having 23s for example w/ a bunch of overcards after several rounds of betting would probably be small...so, knowing that small flushes can't be in the hand will change the numbers severely....

its generally a pretty small chance tho Smile

Yea , specifically , i was asking if there is 3 hearts out there and you have 2 hearts in the hole , how likly is it that someone has 2 hearts in the hole with you.

I hate when bad players think they're weak , so you feel you have the hand , then they turn out jsut slightly stronger then you.

Like today , flop came K K 6 2 spades , everyone checks , turn is 4 of spades , putting 3 spades on board. Ive got a 9 high flush , and oddly enough now the first guy bets out ( i put him on flopping the trips ) and then the next guy just calls , looking very weak. I figured him for either trips bad kicker or maybe a smaller flush , after eh calls , i make a large re-raise , trips guy calls , then other guy goes all in. confused , i call.

He said he thought i had a full house , and was even reluctant to flip over his flush. Then he turns over a j high flush to my 9 high flush , and all the while im thinking ugh , why does he think hes loseing , and thus giving away weird tells.

but even if you have a flush......surely you can't expect 9 high to be the winning hand? why did you raise? (at the very least, i would of raised with a A flush), but even then, with KK on the board i would of been very cautious.

the probability would be 7/45*8/44 provided that you have seen the river.

that is about 3% or odds of about 3 in 97, or 1 in 32 with some rounding.
