cash game format

Posted Tue Mar 28, 2006 3:19 pm GMT by Pokerfarian
Not sure if this is gonna work without the back story, but...

I am looking for a format (blinds/max bet, etc) for a cash game.

The buy-in would be $40 to $60 and the game lasts 4 hours.

Thanks

I played a wierd one the other night with those buy-in's. Blinds were $1/$2 and everyone just had $1 & $5 chips. Those blinds seemed kind of high for the buy-in, but it seemed to work ok.

You planning on doing NL or FL?

NL you could do:
$.50/$1 Blinds would work. $1/$2 would work as well, but if you're more towards the $40 end of the buy-in, 1/2 might be a little steep. I've never really played with a max bet, so I dunno, $20? :p

Otherwise, with FL:
$1/$2 stakes with .5/1 blinds with a 4 bet max should work just fine.

It would be fixed limit game.

The issue is "big losses" versus a "no fold 'em" game.

With buy in being 40$-60$ FL , i would suggest useing one of the following two:

0.25 cent chips and 1$ chips only , .25 SB .50 BB , standard limit rules IE .50 pre flop and on the flop 1$ on turn and river. With this format , you can pretty much guarentee , based on the people playing , the game will go on for quite some time , with people only needing to re-buy at most 1 MAYBE 2 times.

However if everyone your playing with ( im not sure your age group , or if your all working folks or college students((poor)) considers this too low , you'll probably have yourself too many callers pre flop and on the flop , loose play.

If thats what your trying to avoid , i would suggest a typical 1$-2$ limit game , but might not last as long depending on everyons play styles.
*edit* if you want a don't go broke style , then maybe make a 3 bet per round cap , with the 1$-2$ limit option?
