trip to the casino-funny(lame)& interesting(cool)

First , my interesting cool portion of my trip. A little short stacked , and frusterated that im on a lotto table , I look down at the ace of spades and say f*ck it , ill take 60/40 odds to try and double up here ( people were calling with garbage ) so i go all in , hopeing for one caller. Lo and behold i get the fat old lady whos just makeing the most interesting plays ( calling anything preflop with anything suited lol ) , but i don't mind as i wanted one caller only , and got only one caller.

flop comes down terrifying

10 Diamond 7 Heart 8 Heart Turn 4 Heart river 3 Heart

At this point Ive shown my ace of spades , and was just being honest that i only looked at one. She shows k6 suited clubs , excited my ace high holds up , i goto flip over the other card. Ace of diamonds!! Id of rather ace of hearts , and oddly enough am lucky i did what i did , getting only 1 caller rather then inviting more into the pot.

That was interesting and cool.

So now the funny and lame part. I was haveing a horrible run at this table , i mean people were catching , playing weird cards , i couldnt get a good hand to save my life , others were floping monsters. Even short handed ( 5 at the table ) BB raised to 3$ , i call , 3 of us to a flop , he bets , i make a small raise , he makes a big re-raise. I fold my top pair good kicker only to have him show me a set on the flop.

So anywho , I have 5$ left , its been raised to em , and i look down at pocket 3's. At first im looking around thinking damn it , why so many callers , untill i relize its me + 7 others all in it for 3$. Sweet , proper pot odds to go in with my little pocket pair.

flop

3 Diamond 7 Heart j Heart

Now heres the funny part , EP bets good size , 2 players over re-raises , then guy to my right bets all in of about 45$. I call , original raiser calls , and re-raiser folds.

Original raiser flips over j7 ,
all in guy flips over K Heart j

turn heart river heart , and i had the 3 of hearts Sad

Funny part was , earlyer i thought i should buy in for mroe chips if i do hit a monster , and what makes it funny is there was no way i could have gotten away from that hand, and would have lost a fortune.

Anywho , thats poker!

I had a guy in a home game make a similar move. $25/.50 NLHE

UTG raised minimum, next player reraised, another player reraised, two players and the button call (I'm SB with 23o and fold) and BB, without looking at his hand, pushes all-in for ~$150. He even said "I'm not going to bother to look. I have the best hand." He had everyone covered at the table. It folds around to the last raiser who calls with KK. BB flips over AA. Now, he was sitting right next to me and he hadn't even touched his cards, so there was no way he had looked. He took down a monster. Lucky bastard.

There's another guy who likes to straddle a lot, especially later in the evening when the stacks are pretty deep. The last 4-5 times he's done so he's gotten aces. I would swear he's fixing the cards if I hadn't dealt them to him twice myself.

aces are gold at homegames , you can really get inside your friends heads more so then just random people at a casino.

This is the oddest thing, but I have an easier time making reads and messing with the heads of people that I don't know in a casino. For some reason, though I can read my friends fairly well, I just don't play them like I do a random stranger.

The hubby says that I know too much about them and my subconscious hates taking money from my friends, especially those who are not as well off financially as I am. Any stranger is fair game though as I don't care about them.

Vicious Twisted Evil

Not me though , with home games , maybe its my off the wall personality but when i hit a big hand , i can always start screwin with them to make them think im just on a crazy bluff.

That's awesome as you probably have more opportunities to play home games so you can profit a bit more from them.

The guys I play with are a bit intimidated by me and think I never bluff, which gives me a great opportunity to steal a lot of pots. Being a woman has its advantages as well since half the time I don't even know what I'm thinking, there's no way they could. Laughing

Homegames I am sick of Them

Two weeks now First one busted out in my local Homegame tuesday night Turny.

Last night was the worst
Pocket Kings second hand Bet half my stack pre flop gets one caller I am in First Postion So i am all in On the flop unless a Ace hits and like three or four of the other guys says that.

well flop of 10 4 8
all IN before the 8 hits since I see its not a Ace the other guy almost beat me into the pot thats when I know I lost.

Pockets Tens

You said that in your original post, groton. Sorry I missed it. I can't say either of you played the hand poorly, the guy with the T's just happened to hit.

Maverick .... lol Laughing

You know i read in a poker magazine once , president nixon was playing 5 card draw , folded 4 of his cards keeping the ace of diamonds. Drew 4 cards to a royal flush! The magazine said the odds on that are roughly 1 in 500,000 lol.

sorry , you made me think of that.

I looked on Card player and and TT vs KK is 19 to 81
now does Tens look so good when you know the other guy has at worst QQ and most likly KK or AA.
he said when he called me I know you got one of the big three but I am calling off half my Stack(well not the half the stack bit but the rest he did say)

So, basically, he was telling you that he was trying to get lucky? Not very smart if he had you on a higher PP. Now, if he thought you had AK, AQ, or AJ, I can see the call. But, if he was pretty sure you had a higher PP, then he's just not very smart. I'm guessing calculating odds is not his strength. Confused

I played some degenerate that never checked his hand untill the flop, and I had aces and raised a good bit and he called. Flop comes 6 4 4, he pushes (still 'dark' or rather, he hasn't checked his cards) I call and he flips 84 or something. Still, with my godlike skills I managed to river an ace.

I'm still not sure if it qualifies as a bad beat. Confused
