THP Online Tour

Posted Tue Apr 04, 2006 12:09 am GMT by greathuskie
ive been reading the league forum, and i think id like to revamp the "League" with an online leaderboard and everything. it would basically be a series of tournaments over the next couple months on a predetermined site, where points would be given and money given to the top of the leaderboard

basically, id like to make it an entrance fee into the series at all, say 10 dollars

if 10 people join , the top 2 in points would split the 100 dollars from entrance fees, as well as taking the crown of top THP players. does anyone else think this would be a good idea? basically, lets do the THP league, but lets bump it up a bit and make it more active, more people and reasonable stakes for all.

anyone want to do it, have any ideas, or just straight hate me? Embarassed

partypoker gave me 50 bucks free, im gonna withdraw it and put it somewhere else Smile hey ill play if it doesnt cost me anything

blackjack...i dunno i thought about it, its not a good idea. thats all i can say haha

Posted Tue Apr 04, 2006 12:40 am GMT by greathuskie
and this isnt the same thing as what we did last year, i remember doing that

im thinking bigger scale. first off there is an initial entry fee which will be divided up amongst the highest point totals. next id like to make this over a couple of months, not every weekend, this way people have a little more time to clear these schedules and we can get more people playing, should make it more fun. we may or may not do different events, omaha etc, depends on demand. but im thinking more along the lines of WPT type setup, or how they do the tournament leader board for pros and even how websites do it. i dunno, just some thoughts, i think it would be really fun. we could see whos best over 10 or more tourneys

Posted Tue Apr 04, 2006 2:54 am GMT by Phil14312
I would suggest rotating sites so it a broader base of people can play. But, sounds good to me. Also, if its not about the money then maybe it would be even more popular if they were only $5 events, some people don't have huge bankrolls.

Posted Tue Apr 04, 2006 12:27 pm GMT by greathuskie
it would prolly work alot better to keep it on one site, that way we all arent redepositing on each site once a month or whatever just to play that tournament

5 or 10 bucks is fine

I like the idea of one site and $10 for a league final and maybe a couple of bucks for each event.

i can name 20 regulars off the top of my head, theres no reason NOT to do this, its not very expensive and will be alot of fun for everyone involved

The average turn out per tournament for the other series was 8. I'll be shocked if you get more than that.

I'm game!!!! As long as it would all be on pokerstars.

Posted Tue Apr 04, 2006 4:21 pm GMT by greathuskie
yes, everything will be pokerstars, and no it wont be EVERY week, im looking for once a month, every month for 1 year, this way everyone has more then enough notice, and we can reschedule far in advance too

Posted Tue Apr 04, 2006 4:47 pm GMT by Phil14312
Yes I made the cut!!!

The only problem for me is that I do a lot of other stuff and don't know if I could regularly show up, because I often have no idea as to what I've committed to until like 3 days before.

That actually made me laugh, I didn't think you were talking about me.

I'd sign up for it.

Would there be a leaderboard and such? I read the TH-P championship thing where there were 8 events and a main event and something like that would be cool. But whatever you do decide to do, I'll play.

1 whole year? I was going to do it untill then...

Haha, werrrrrd, with <200 posts over the course of over a year, I'm a regular. Booyah.

Posted Tue Apr 04, 2006 9:15 pm GMT by greathuskie
it doesnt have to be a whole year, it could be every 2 weeks for a certain period of time, or they could be sparratic like 2 in one week or whatever.

this could even go over a 3-4 month period if you want.

Posted Thu Apr 06, 2006 4:55 am GMT by greathuskie
lets see if we can get pokerstars to actually sponsor this entire event, with prizes to the winners maybe?

if they would sponsor a 12 event program would you guys be willing to play?

Posted Thu Apr 06, 2006 6:39 am GMT by wizzwizz

They already do. It's called the WSOOP.

This won't happen.

He's just trying to save you trouble. If you feel the need to experience rejection first hand, then forge ahead my overly-optimistic friend.

Posted Thu Apr 06, 2006 1:07 pm GMT by supafrey
Sorry for having some sort of realistic vision of this world, my friend.

1. Pokerstars, for one, doesn't do private freerolls anywhere near the frequency of other sites.

2. The freerolls that sites DO do don't come in batches of 12. They give you one or two freerolls, sometimes, not a whole series of them.

3. The point, for them, is to inspire new players to try out their site and technology. Almost everyone here that WOULD play this freeroll already has an account there. PS would quickly realize this and NEVER offer us a second one.

See, realism.

What???!!

I've been here longer than you huskie, and I'm not on the list??!!

I won't play then... Rolling Eyes

Posted Thu Apr 06, 2006 2:42 pm GMT by Geno
I'm afraid Supa is right on the money here, especially regarding PS and their policies. They are just so well known that really they don't need anyone's help to stay as huge as they are. Granted this backfired for Paradise 5 years ago when they were huge but with WSOP winners and the super popular Sunday night games, PS is here to stay and we little people are not in any way going to be of use to them.

I guess I dont post enough to be on the list.

I think I will just form my own SUPER DUPER TOURNAMENT CHAMPION SPONSORED LEAGUE.

Everyone is in, major freerolls w/ big cash prizes.

Greathuskie has a perma-ban. FU! Very Mad

Posted Thu Apr 06, 2006 3:27 pm GMT by AHBrownell
I'll play in the league. Spade Heart Diamond Club

Posted Thu Apr 06, 2006 3:30 pm GMT by Skribbles
Darn it! And I thought I was a regular here! Shucks... I was really looking forward to playing a couple SNGs with you Huskie.

dont worry Dave...I expect some post like

"f*** you all, I'm not organising this anymore if you are not motivated" or something coming soon

OR

we start the series but never finish them. (HU tourney on UB anyone ?)

Posted Thu Apr 06, 2006 4:10 pm GMT by Johny
There's no use in arguing about wether Poker Stars will sponsor the event or not, the issue is the turnout size.

In Huskie's defense, someone asked him to name 20 regulars who would be willing to play, off the top of his head, not every single regular forum member.

Posted Thu Apr 06, 2006 6:30 pm GMT by greathuskie
eh whatever i wont ask

the point is why does no one want to do this if its cheap and could be fun

Posted Thu Apr 06, 2006 10:18 pm GMT by Ciso_B
if it goes ahead anytime, then id be up for it i guess.

Do it at another site and I might do it. I don't know, PP, FullTilt maybe...

Posted Fri Apr 07, 2006 3:44 pm GMT by Johny
It's easier at Poker Stars where it's possible to make private tourneys. I doubt very much that any site would sponsor an entire series, so Poker Stars seems like the best option.

Posted Wed Apr 12, 2006 12:04 pm GMT by BeerWench13
Huskie, I'd be more than willing to play as long as the tournaments aren't on Sundays and it's held at PS. I can't guarantee being at every one, but I will try. Oh, and one other condition........you have to promise never to call anyone on THP a f*cking a**hole or something similar EVER AGAIN.

Posted Thu Apr 13, 2006 12:24 am GMT by greathuskie

and as far as zinno is concerned, i call them as i see them Wink

do you even remember the heads up tourney? literally HALF of the people wanted someone else to play for them. there would have been no point to continue the tourney if the original winners werent playing in the first place?

at that point it was just random heads up matches, and hell, might as well just play anyone if thats the case

Posted Fri Apr 14, 2006 7:41 am GMT by kompis
if this happened i would definately be up for it, try doing it on a worser website that would appreciate the custom. perhaps we could try doing it on TITAN they seem to be hosting all sorts of these tourney things
