tsiguy's daily poker journal - rags to riches to rags

Posted Wed Apr 05, 2006 12:41 am GMT by greathuskie
hi, welcome to the first thread of my poker journal Smile.

on friday, i signed up for a free 50 dollars from partypoker through some promotion website or something. anyways, yes the money came through yesterday, and after going up to 85 bucks then down to 29 and a miraculous double up (http://www.pokerhand.org/?289231) i withdrew my money at 52 bucks to deposit at PS.

so today i deposit my money on PS, play a cash game lose 6 bucks and play a SNG and go out 4th. next, i signed up for a 5 dollar 45 person tournament, and this was the result:

PokerStars Tournament #22501138, No Limit Hold'em
Buy-In: $5.00/$0.50
45 players
Total Prize Pool: $225.00
Tournament started - 2006/04/04 - 13:38:48 (ET)

Dear tsiguy96,

You finished the tournament in 1st place.
A $69.76 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

w00t w00t. so now ive got roughly 110 in my account. been playing here and there today, winning some here losing some there, and just lost my AK to KJ when he flopped a jack in a heads up 5 dollar sng. as of right now, i have 101.72.

heres hoping some more cards fall Smile. gonna play one SNG then go to bed. ill post more later.

btw: sngs and tourneys, besides the one, arent going my way today. however cash games ive made nearly 30 bucks in today, just to blow it all on tourneys. its normally the other way around Embarassed

so i sat at a cash game (.25/.50 NL) with 15 bucks (always do, very easy to double up. about 2 hours later im sitting tight with 73 dollars. then this happens: http://www.pokerhand.org/?290819

i played it horribly, obviously, but it happened and i cant change it now. that left me with 21 bucks. after 30 minutes and some grinding i was back to 62 dollars. at this point i figured its best to leave. i then went and angry-tilted away 5 bucks at a .01/.02 game, and now my bankroll sits pretty at 137.57.

Why do you think you played it bad? I wouldn't have made the min. raise on the flop, but there wasn't anything really wrong with it. You got all your money in with AA on a non-threatning board, not much you can do if you run into a set.

On a side note, this journal idea seems like it will be fun to read.

started off today pretty bad, lost nearly 40 dollars from cash games and tourneys, so i was at around 100. won 10 bucks in stud, another 5 in aheads up tourney, and lost a 20 dollar buy in at a cash game, and the rest of the day i just sorta floated around the 95-110 mark.

i quit for awhile, decided to come back later, and just now joined a cash game, im doing good. heres a couple highlights so far from just this game:

2.http://www.pokerhand.org/?291850
3.http://www.pokerhand.org/?291849
4.http://www.pokerhand.org/?291856

ill report back when im done for the night

k, i had one last hand but i forgot to get the hand history. in short, i dont know how to bluff Smile. lost 12 bucks on that hand, not THAT much but i defenitely thought i could bluff the guy out of the pot. oh well, ABC poker is working out just fine for me Smile. its highly underrated

k, im playing my last game for the night, a 180 person 4 dollar tournament. had a huge scare with this hand, it would have made me chip leader:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?291928

but then this hand helped alot (i nearly doubled up over the course of a few hands in between):
http://www.pokerhand.org/?291926

and just now i won a big pot:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?291929

im in 3rd place with 27 people left, top 18 get paid. wish me luck

Reading all your hands on pokerhand I couldnt help but notice how much you like to complain about your bad beats. I love to watch people like you go crazy when you lose a hand you thought u shoulda won. We all get bad beats...learn to deal with them. Smile

Other than that, Great job with the bankroll starting from $50.

I started out with $50 on PS, got up to $355, and just cashed out for $117 Very Mad
