3 1/2 days, 30 hours of poker, I would be even if it wasnt for the blackjack. Crappy trip in general, too many people and lines. Long lists for holdem or anything fun-most tourneys were canceled because the tables were full. All blackjack at decent casinos was $15 min in the morning and $25 min by late afternoon-that gets expensive.
Anyway-played all my holdem $6/12 limit at the Mirage. Here are the most interesting hands:
best catch-I have KK and a tight player on my right raised. She was so tight that her raises would often wipe out the table. So I call 2 bets on the button. The big blind raises to 3 bets, she makes 4 and I cap the betting at $30 w/ only 3 of us remaining. Flop 2 3 7 rainbow. BB bets, she raises, I call, BB reraises, she calls. Turn 8, BB bets, she calls, I raise, BB reraises, we call. River K-golden...I have the nuts. Bet checked to me, I bet they call. Showdown, trip Ks for me, BB has AA my neighbor has QQ.
worst beat-I have KJ suited at a crazy loose table at 5am full of drunks capping 1/3 of the hands preflop, often w/ any A. I call a capped w/ 5 others. Flop was Q J J-not bad. I only call and we still 4 bet. Turn rag-I only call and we 3 bet, but down to 3 players. River K-NICE! Js full Ks-I check raise and am reraised....uh oh. These guys have been giving me some respect so a reraise on my check raise is a problem. Even though only KK or QQ can beat me, I just call-pockets Ks. My trip Js w/ a K kicker was the winner, but I make the boat and lose the hand. SON OF A.....$300-400 pot down the drain.
weirdest hand-crazy raising drunk fool caps betting w/ 7 other callers, including me w/ 77. Not a great hand, but good pot odds. Flop AAK, I call one bet, hoping to see a cheap turn on a monster pot but it is $24 more to me when the bet comes around again. I fold. Turn and river pointless, but some fast betting showdown pocket JJ, JJ, 77, 77-(I folded) and raising joker w/ AQ to take down the big pot. The Js and 7s were drawing dead once a single A hit, not to mention trips.
LV play was wild. Completely different that I am accustom too. It was like 2/4 w/ 6/12 stakes. I lost many hands to 9 3 suited runner runner on the river. NO ONE would fold. When the table was loose, I wasnt getting cards. When the table was tight-I was flopping everything. Ended up even, but at $18/hour to play(3 pots and hour at $4 rake/hand, $1 tip plus $3 drink tips per hour) I was OK w/ that. Met some great people, saw a few fights, one dealer fired, talk about a full weekend of poker.

Thanks for the trip update. Sounds like yours went about like my trip to Biloxi. Damn blackjack tables. I played the $4/$8 tables when I did finally get a seat, which were loose, but I was told that the $6/$12 tables were the same. Maybe your next trip will be more profitable.

LOL Welcome to Vegas.
Sometimes, there's some really loose play out here, and your bankroll will swing a bit. I tried my hand at 6/12 hold em, which for the most part was a losing venture.
As far as 4/8 hold em in Vegas, I think it's a game too hard to get into now. The waits are soooo long, which is what I'm sure you experienced. 2/4 is no good, just because you need to have a significantly large pot to make some cash worth spending.
6/12 on the other hand is the next step up. You will have plenty of 4/8 players move into that game... which for the most part is still low limit. I think the difference is you won't have as many callers in the 6/12 game, but you will still get some dumb callers.
It's funny how you had the runner-runner 9 3 crap though. It'll still happen at the 6/12... there was a mini-me version of Louie Anderson sitting at my table. He walked away at least $200 richer with stupid calls in the back. Then left with my money! He even called a raise with 2 4 offsuit in the back and hit the straight. Geez.
Lemme' know when you come back to Vegas though. Hopefully, we'll meet up then.
