Exciting Live Tourney

i played in a €15 buy-in, 50 people, NL hold em, re-buy tournament 2 days ago

starting stack is 1000

heres a run down of the most important hands in the tourney for me... it might be an amusing read so check it out

very first hand: i get AQd.. raise to 100 (blinds are 25-25).. my friend who i was there with was also on that table and he moved all-in.. i call. he had A-10. i double up!

a bit later... the uber donk and laughing stock of the tournament doubles the blind.. 4 people call, im in the BB and i call too with 8-9 offsuit.
flop comes 10-J-Q rainbow... hmmm.... everyone checks to me, i bet around the size of the pot. gets folded, donk calls. turn is a 7.. i move all-in. donk calls and shows K-9 for the higher flopped straight... ouch!

i rebought for a 1000 more chips (though i still had ships left) and a couple of pots later i got K-J offsuit. blinds were now 50-100... my buddy raised it to 250, 2 callers and i call and another caller behind me...
flop: K-Q-6 rainbow.
first position bets 500, i immediately make it a 1000 out of position accidentally... everyone but my friend calls. so me plus 3 others in the pot

turn is a 7... checked to me.. i bet another 1000... guy after me calls and is all-in... both other guys move all-in as well.... i reluctantly threw in my last couple hundred as i said "im pot committed right?"... showdown!!

first postition: K-3 for top pair 3 kicker.
other guy: A-10 for straight draw
other other guy: A-J for straight draw... at this point i prayed for a blank on the river and yes, a deuce hit and i QUADRUPLED up! insane!

after a while i pick up A-K when the blinds were 150-300.. i make it 1000 in late postition.. both blinds call. flop comes rag-rag-rag.. both check. i bet 2000, small blind folds, big blind calls and is all-in. he shows A-Q and i take it down

a few minutes later i got reseated to another table which happened to be the table which is always used for the final table. i had a huge stack as i came sitting there....

very first hand at the new table, i pick up 8-8. i had just witnessed a previous pot here and witnessed the pre-flop and post flop aggressor take down the pot without a showdown... so the same guy raises, makes it 1700.. i think blinds were now up to 500-1000 or so... i call and another guy calls behind me. flop comes 9-6-3 rainbow. initial bettor bets 1500, i raise, make it 3000. guy behind me folds, dude calls. flop is a Q, he bets 1000, i call. river a blank, he moves all-in for like 800 more, i call.. he shows pocket rockets... DAMN! that was a very very costly pot....

i was now one of the more shorter stacks at the table, i was planning to move all-in preflop or fold... and thats what happened i fold fold fold, then i got pocket 66. i moved all-in.. i pick up the blinds.. phew!

a while later i get 99, move all-in and pick up the blinds again.

so as i was being blinded to death slowly but surely i was hoping to catch a nice hand because it was now 1 hand before i had the big blind which was now about 2500-5000.. and i had only about 7000 left.. so luckily first to act i catch 10-10.. two red ones. i move all-in... and only a friend of mine who was there as well sitting to my right called me, he was big blind. he showed K-J offsuit, and luckily for me the first card on the flop was a nice 10.. he also catched a jack, but i double up

this continues for a while longer until i catch pocket 66 again... everyone folds, small blind calls, big blind checks... im first to act and push all-in as i was still going out like broomcorn's uncle. so the small blind calls, bb folds. and i flip my sixes open rapidly... the dude looks at his cards and sighs heavily. im thinkin "what you got fives? fours?" and proceeds to flip open his pocket aces.....motherfcuker! i had a bigger stack then him so i was still in there but barely...

then it was announced that there were 20 players left and 10 had to die before te final table was set-up... obviously i was dead nervous as i had a tiny ass stack. in the mean time i see these other short stacks push all-in and getting called by way better hands but they kept sucking out and doubling up. this was very depressing as i wanted as many players out as fast as possible... this did not help. but still, i managed to make it to the final table and i was the second shortest stack in it.

high carded, i got the ace of diamonds and luckily i was dealer. first hand on the final table: 2 guys go all-in with another guy who has them covered calls... double kill! bam! this pleased me aLOT. so then i catch J-J... and my friend who had doubled me up in the very first hand of the tourney went all-in.. im the one who called.. he showed K-10, i double up. (he was still in there after this hand though). then someone else busted out. 6 players left. i catch A-A for the first time of the night.... everyone folds, my man to my right who doubled me up when i had tens raises in small blind, i was big blind. of course i move all-in and he called as he had a huge stack. he showed me K-10 of spades.. i flip open my aces. 2 spades hit the flop and this did not feel right... and of course.. the river was another spade and i busted out in 6th place with AA. 6th place paid €90

i guess theres 2 ways to look at it. 1: an hour beforehand i had only 1 and a half blind left, so it was a blessing i made it this far... but on the other hand; my aces got sucked out on PLUS, right after this happened 2 short stacks busted out and it was left to 3 players! imagine i had doubled up with those Aces like i shouldve, and i wouldve been a favorite here,,, no joke! thats why im still a bit sour.... but all in all it was a fun night

Nice tourney and finish. I know it sucks to have your aces cracked, especially since it cost you a few places in the tournament. That's a horrible way to end such an exciting tournament. However, on the bright side, considering you were down to the felt at a few points, you did well to get as far as you did. Congratulations.
