2002 WSOP Announcer or 2003? |

I recently watched both the 2002 WSOP and 2003 for the umpteenth time, and I noticed the announcer on the 2002 one was boring. Not the play-by-play guy, but the analyst. The 2003 one was a lot better. Any comments?

Norm Chad did the analysis for the 2003 WSOP. I've seen him on PTI and he's a funny guy. He was very funny at the poker tournament as well. And he still knew his stuff.

When did Gabe Kaplan stop doing it? He wasn't as smooth as Norm (or as funny IMO) but he seemed to know his stuff. I can't remember if he was the play-by-play or the color.
In fact, in last year's WSOP at the very last card when Moneymaker got a 5, you could hear the Binion's room announcer say; "It's a five!" and it sounded a lot like Gabe.

I actually like the less enthusiastic announcers. The ones who just call it like it is and actually know something about poker. Lederer is good. You actually learn something from his announcing. I CAN'T STAND that guy that sits next to Lederer on Fox and the guy on the European one (whatever it's called). Every hand results in this: "O-O M-Y G-O-D, H-E I-S D-R-A-W-I-N-G D-E-A-D..." Read it slowly, but very loud and abnoxious and sound out every syllable. I have to mute it because the guy annoys me so much.
