MGM for NL cash games , with buy ins as low as 50$ ranging up to 400+$

Hey Sundance, I'll be out there Sunday-Wednesday, maybe we'll run into each other. PM me if you want to exchange info.

I found a list of tournaments here. No idea how well-maintained the site is.

When I was there this time last year, pretty much all the casinos of any size had cash games and tournaments, and I understand those that didn't (Venetian and Caesar's), for example, have added rooms.

Fear the golddog!

Well, ok, not any more than you'd fear any other gold dog.

The fishing's usually pretty good at my table.

Just got back from Vegas. The MGM is good. The Luxor stinks. Mandalay Bay was ok. Overall I was not impressed with Vegas poker as compared to East Coast poker or even Reno poker. The three blinds at the Luxor was incredibly stupid. Not to mention dealers that had no idea what they were doing. There were several good places that impressed me such as the Venetian and Ceasar's. But it just seems like a lot of the other have no idea what to do or how to handle the popularity of the game or what to do. This was my first time playing poker in Vegas as I live a few hours outside of AC and for years have been playing there.

There is a $125 NL Tourney I think on Thursdays at the MGM around 6:30pm. At least thats when and where we played our first night there. Both my borthers finished at the final table. Very easy tourney.

K-Rug,

What was the rake at the Luxor? I see on AllVegas that the rake is $4 or 10%. What did you encounter? Thanks.

I'll be honest with you, this is going to sound bad, but I didn't pay attention to the rake. I did pay attention to their three blind system though, lol. Which depending on the dealer was in affect or was not. There was no rhyme or reason. I loved the hotel and everything else about the Luxor. The poker room... well not really a room... really turned me off compared to the other casinos. They only have $1-$2 NL with a max buy-in of $50 and a min buy-in of $50. Heh... Which means you can only buy-in for $50. Period.

It was very disorganized, the dealers for the most part were unfriendly and messed up a lot. A lot! I think 3-4 players got kicked out in an 8 hour period one night. For a room that has.. hrmm... 12-15 tables that's too many. It really was just a bad experience from a poker standpoint. Of course, pocket Kings in EP getting called and cracked by J5o all-in pre-flop while I had the guy covered 2 to 1 might have something to do with it.

The majority of the players had attitudes or thought they were all comedians. The good news is lots of people came and went. The bad news is, lots of people came and went. There was a ton of out of turn play. Almost every hand someone played out of turn. I can go on and on... So to end the pain I went all-in blind. You would have thought I shot Doyle Brunson by the looks on their face. They had no idea what to do. I think it was KQs and I just wanted to leave. Small pocket pair called and it held up. I left. My best friend who was on a tear stayed for another 8 more hours (32 in total). It's a shame too the place is great. The rest of the casino is awesome however!

Thanks for the notes. I misread your ealier post about the blinds and buy in, my bad. Somehow thought you were talking about the rake...
The whole intrigue of the Luxor is just the weak players. I may take a run at them since I will be close staying at Mandalay, also plan to try the MGM. Confused

The Bellagio usually has some nice tournaments running. Their poker room isn't bad either. I didn't get to play much last time I was there since it was a business trip and I didn't play poker the first time I went, so I don't have much more information than that.
Ask General Sal. He should be able to give you some great advice.

The Mandalay was great. MGM was a fav as was Ceasar's and the Venetian.

Let me know what you think. After playing at the other places and then sitting down there at night (since I was staying there) to settle in until 5am or so. It was just a huge disappointement. When you are looking for the 1/2 NL game just remember it is labeled as the $50 NL game.

Wynn, Bellagio, Mirage, Caesars =top notch!

Although Caesars isnt really the place to be for 6/12-20/40 limit players.

IE the luxor , I can second everything k-rug said , the poker room was AWFUL!!!! aside form it being like a 30ft by 60ft fenced off area , which was funny in itself , yea the min max buy in was 50$ ....... and you played with 5$ chips lol. Dealers were bad , and mostly everyone there was drunken pissed off strange people - which may be good or bad depending on you Smile but I didnt like it at all and wuold not return. The limit games there were nice though - as soft as they come full of weak passive players.

Bellagio - I watchd a friend of mine play 200$ NL at a particuliar table there - went like this:

fold
raise 20$
raise 50$
call
call
raise 100$
call
fold
call
raise 200$
call
call
call
call.

78o wins the hand! Now of course , if you have the patience , this could be good or bad , and We only played there once ( well he played i was broke at that point ) but I imagine all the rich people tehre considered 200$ NL the kiddie table. Was fun though watching 5000$ NL being played , people witha 10,000$ wad of 100's sitting in front of them in play , everyone at the table with 8+ 20 stacks of 25$ chips in play ..... crazyness. Never seen such a high stakes game in progress.

The worst part - we missed gus hansen by suposedly 2 hours. Crying Now THAT would have been fu to watch!

I was in Vegas in January and i loved the Wynn!! They have a 1-3 NL, kind of wierd when you are used to chips in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10!!! But they DO NOT have a max buy in and you may sit with as much money as you please!! I sat with 300 everytime with people who had wadds of $100 bills behind their chips and made money everytime!!! Just avoid blackjacj its the devil!!!!!!!(the tables were right next to the elevator)
The other place I played was the Bellagio and they have a 2-5 NL with a max/min buy in of $200( their lowest game for NL) This was the easiest money I have made playing poker!! A big plus was that I sat right infront of their high roller room where on Fridays I watched Doyle Brunson, Chip Reese, and Chou Giang play poker!!! Good luck!!!

I'm a fan of Alladin for NL in Vegas- very soft games and they run SNG's all day long on Sundays at dif buy ins if that's your thing. Mirage also seemed soft to me when I was there last.

Almost all the casino's run at least one multi table tourney every day
