I think it was a rerun, but did anyone see Barry Greenstein call that $1,000,000 bet by Daniel on just the nut flush draw?
The pot was $1 million and Daniel made a pot size bet with a flopped flush (I think) and Barry had the Ace. Barry actually made the call and the flush hit on the river.
I must admit Daniel took it pretty well. I would have wanted to pull Barry's stupid beard out hair by hair.

I saw it. K 9 vs A Jx I think. Flop was all low clubs, Barry probably thought his overcard was good.
The bet wasnt really a million, Barry had under 100k and there was around 10-20k in the pot. So his call wasnt as bad as it sounded.

Ooooooooh! I missed that. He had huge odds to call then. Or was I looking at the pot size after the $1 million bet?
Posted Tue Apr 25, 2006 12:00 pm GMT by tame_deuces
He probably thought he had odds versus the possible hands he put Daniel on (which afterall is pretty wide). Greenstein strikes me as a pretty solid player, not the kind too gambool it up. It just so happens this time DN actually had a hand.
Not talking about these high stakes now, but in a similar situation: Versus alot of laggy players this would actually be a very bad laydown.

True, but I thought he called a $1 million bet with only ace high and a flush draw. He had to put Daniel on a pretty crappy hand to make that call if he wasn't gonig for the flush.

I watched it and yes it was a rerun!! Daniel bet a mil on the flop with the second nut flush. Greenstein didnt even think for more than a second and called!! Greenstein only had @ 80,000 more so total the pot was a little over $200,000!!! Got to love throwing a million $ bet on one hand!!! Till next Monday!!

don't feel too great. Daniel lost money from the show, even while getting paid just to show up.

I saw the beginning of this hand right up to Daniel betting $1 mil. I was moving to the other room so I didn't see Barry call and suck out. Wow. I thought for sure the hand was over when Daniel bet. I have it Tivo'd so I'll watch it again tomorrow night.

If I recall correctly, it was heads-up and that was the 2nd time Daniel had bet $1 million.

This just makes me love daniel ever more in a twisted way. If someone like sam farha made this bet .... interesting but meh. But I'm not sure why but daniel making it ... I would just love to hear the thought process of the pro on the other end of it.

He did get barry to call off all his chips with the worst of it. Lose or not , I still enjoy just watching him play. Would like to see more , unfortunatly I watch tv maybe 2 hours a week.

Tivo is a wonderful thing. I don't know how I went so long without it.

If I remember correctly , everyone has a max buy in of 100k , but can buy in as many times as they like.

That's cool. I should really watch it. Heard it's an excellent game.
Posted Tue Apr 25, 2006 5:04 pm GMT by Johny
I'm fairly sure there's no max. buy-in.

How did he lose money? If I'm mistaken he ended up close to his original million when the season was over. Plus I think he ended up pretty good on the prop bets.

You have to pay for the installation and then rent the DVR monthly. I have no idea how much it costs. The hubby pays all the bills. I do know our satellite bill is around $100/month, but we have quite a few premium channels.

Really? I didn't know that. Deadly!
Anyone notice the comeback Ted Forrest made? He made some really nice plays and excellent reads. His reading skills impress me a great deal.

Daniel at end of season 1:
The players were also paid an hourly rate to be part of the show that ended up being about $1250 per hour. So with that bonus, I ended up losing less than a quarter million. Not great, but not all that horrible either.
He was down about $240k after season one, and he is being absolutely destroyed in season 2. He made some money back this year off of props, but he's still very very down so far.

Wow, I didn't realize he was doing so badly in Season 2. And holy crap, they're giving them $1250 an hour to show up?

What? Doesn't everybody make $1250 per hour?
Where did you get the update for season 2, supa?

No, no, Wenchie; that's $12.50 an hour that you make.

Them making $1250 an hour isn't much at all considering the stakes they play.

That and also considering thats 1% of what they buy in for per hour , not much considering what they're playing for - like you said.
Though I wouldn't mind getting 1$ an hour playing 100$ NL lol

Heres a worse way to look at it .... daniel neg usualy plays limits like 1000-2000$
They're being paid 1 SB per hour at the stakes they play elsewhere
Posted Wed Apr 26, 2006 5:08 pm GMT by Johny
Negreanu usually plays in the "Big Game" where the limits are $4000-$8000.

think they are from the same show anyway.

That show is probably the best out there on tv right now.
Finally a show that we can watch that we all play... but at lower limits of course. LOL
Posted Wed May 17, 2006 1:53 pm GMT by shorn7
Actually, it is a minimum buy-in of $100k with no max. Daniel is the only one who has bought into the game for $1 million.

DVR service is usually only 2-5 bucks a month. Check if your cable company has a house brand DVR - they're usually cheaper then TIVO and almost as groovy.
