bonus "whoring"?

Posted Wed Apr 26, 2006 11:27 am GMT by kingetje
I deposited $55 on Doyles Room some time ago and made it up to about 250.. then i fell back to about 150 where i am now. all this by playing $.10/.20 NL cash games and $5 SnGs and also a few MTTs here and there

now the whole time im thinking that these cash games have too big swings to make any substantial consecutive money,... its up and down up and down up and down. make a big pot here by good play and then get sucked out a bigger pot by playing even better... its just almost no use

so i decided that i take 120 off of my 150 on doyles room and deposit it somewhere else with a 100% sign up bonus.. then when i have cleared that bonus i will deposit that bonus money somewhere else to get a new bonus... expanding and spreading out my bankroll that way... and use the 30 i have on doyles room to play freerolls and/or low buy-in MTTs with some juicy prize pools

i LOVE playing cash games and i do well in them 70% of the time but i just dont see me bringing my bankroll to the next level by playing it all the time because of the swings like i said earlier.

now does this sound like a good plan? any ideas? thoughts? feel free to share em.

Based on this statement, you should have no problem playing cash games. Manage your bankroll and don't move up in stakes until your BR allows for it. If you're playing it smart, then a few losing sessions shouldn't make too much of a dent.

In addition to that, there is nothing wrong with bonus whoring to build your roll.

if you are looking at cash games, you may want to look at rakeback bonuses as opposed to sign up bonuses. A rakeback bonus will pay you back a % of the rake you pay at your tables (typically 20-28%) instead of just matching your deposit and making you play X hands to cash out or activate the bonus. Depending on the site, one or the other may make more sense.
Google both and decide for yourself (sorry, talking about either in more detail isn't encouraged on the board)
