2 hands that made my night

I played a $1/2 rotational cash game last night. One round of NLHE then one round of PLO8. I bought in for $100 and lost that by quartering half the pot twice in O8 along with a huge suckout. God, I suck at that game.

I bought in for another $100. It was getting toward the end of the night and I was sitting on $61. Not a good night (again) for me. We were on the last round of HE and I was 2nd to act with 72o. UTG folds, so I bump it to $15. Two players call. The flop was all rags (no 7 or 2 though). I bet $25. Next player folds. The next guy goes into the tank for a minute then says "If it was anyone else, I'd call." and mucks. I flip my 72 and you could see the evident frustration on his face.

The next hand is declared the final hand of the night. I'm UTG and look down to see JJ. I love this hand. I bet out $25 and the guy I bluffed and BB both call. The flop is K 6 2 rainbow. BB checks. I'm pretty sure BB just called out of frustration (he had a rough night too) and the other guy was still steaming from the bluff on the previous hand. I put him on Ax. He has $71 left. I check hoping he'll push. He does. BB folds and it's on me. I look at him and ask, "Got a King?" He nods. Then I ask, "How's your kicker? Any good?" He says he has a 3. I looked at him for a minute and then said "I believe you on the 3, but you don't have a king. I call." I show my Jacks and he flips his A3s. The turn is a 3. Oh no, not again. The river is a blank and my hand holds.

I count out my chips and I have $200 exactly. I made almost $140 in the last 2 hands of the night to get back to even. Well, better to break even than lose. Confused Next step... winning session in live play. It's been far too long.

**edit**In retrospect, I guess I should've posted this in the "Tales" category. Please feel free to move it, mods.

Well, I finally did it Friday night! I played these guys and took some cash off of them. Not a lot (I bought in for $100 and cashed out at $208), but it was a win nonetheless. It's been nearly 6 months since I've had a winning session in live play. Maybe it's O8 that's been killing me. Friday night was the first all NLHE game that I've played in what feels like forever. I'll be holding a NLHE tournament followed by a cash game at my house near the end of this month. Hopefully it will go well also.

A few notable hands from Friday night. $100 NLHE. Blinds $1/2.
It's the first hand of the night, I'm BB. A few people limp and the button (we'll call him "AD") raises to $10.

I'm holding 7 Club 8 Club . I know how this guy plays and figure he was starting out with his normal LAG play, so I call and 2 others call.

Flop: 3 Club 5 Heart 6 Club .

It checks around to AD (I figure he has Ax), and he bets $20. One other caller and myself.

Turn: 2 Spade . Well, that didn't really help. It checks around this time. Now, I'm pretty sure he has Ax. I'm not sure about the other caller since I've only played against him once before. His smooth call on the flop and check here has me worried that he may have a higher flush draw.

The river brings a 4 Diamond Well, I hit my straight. Now I really hope AD has an A. I bet $35 (pot is $100). Both call.

The cards are revealed and AD has AK (oops bad read there) and the other player has 78o. We split the pot and I start the night doubling up. I really wish I'd have been able to read the other caller. We could've made quite a bit more off of the hand.

Another hand I have A Heart A Diamond UTG and raise to $12. 2 players call (both LAG's) and then the SB comes over the top to make it $25 to go. I thought about pushing, but decided to reraise to $50 instead. Only the reraiser calls.

Flop: A Spade 8 Club 9 Club
Nice, but a little scary with a draw-heavy board.
SB bets $30 and I raise pot (less his $30). I figure he has AK, but if he's suited, I don't want him catching the flush here. He goes into the tank forever and finally mucks his A Club Q Spade face up. Any thoughts here? Should I have just called or min-bumped him here? I was happy to take down a good-sized pot there, but I feel that I could've made more.

I had a few other great hands, but these two really stuck out in my mind. The first because I got lucky against a player who always draw out on me and the other because I feel that I could've extracted more out of him in that hand.

Good girl!!!

Ain't that the best feeling when you read your opponent perfectly?? I can imagine his face when you flipped your JJ.

Yes, I love that feeling. He confirmed his tilt when I saw him Friday night. The first thing he said when he saw me was "Just don't make me tilt all my money away on the last hand of the night tonight, okay?" He was at the other table all night Friday and told me on a smoke break that he was really disappointed I was sitting at the other table. Then someone else who was there on Tuesday asked him "Why? So she can take all of your chips again?" Shocked

That other guy was at his table and said that comment made him about $150 in the next few hands. Laughing

You raised utg than re-raised him, your representing a lot of strength pre-flop. You could just flat call the flop, make it look like you had Ks or Qs. After you made the pot size re-raise on the flop, I don't see you having anything but AK or AA if you're usually TAG in this game. I may have missed it but how deep was your opponent?

Congrats on your success. Smile

He had about $75 after the preflop raise. He had just gotten his 2nd buy-in of the night about a round before this hand. He lost his first when his K's ran into the hubby's A's. Said we were going to be the death of him. He's a good player as well which is why I felt the need to get him out of the pot at that point or make him commit 3/4 of his stack to draw. I was worried he was holding A Club K Club and might draw that club to crack me. I couldn't see him reraising with a PP lower than J's. You're right. I could've extracted more if I had played it as if I had K's and the A scared me. Thanks. I'll keep that in the memory bank for future use.

I mistyped earlier. I cashed out up $208, not at $208. It's the best live cash game I've had with these guys.
