Figured I would come out firing and see where I stood. I only raised 3x BB pre flop. wouldn't AK or QQ have re raised me? My A9 was most likely still good at this point. The two diamonds scared me as well.

Kind of a bittersweet card...

Apr 27 05:24:45 : ibx21 called $16

Now this is the part of his play that confuses me...Ok, maybe he didn't hit his flush. Why would he just call. Maybe he has a low ace or is trapping me with AQ...?

Apr 27 05:24:56 : Jewish Pete wins $185.50 with Full House : 9s full of Aces

Apr 27 05:25:06 : Hand is over.

Im still not quite sure as to why he just called my bet when he hit his flush and then re raised all-in on the river. Had he re raised me when the third diamond hit, I probably would have dropped my hand right there.

So basically, I want to know how I should have played this hand differently. I am not quite sure what the best way to play hands like A9, A8, or AT is. I feel that they are playable in many situations, but become difficult when a flop comes up like the above.

I really have no problem that I can think of with how you played the hand. In any case, your opponent played it significantly worse.

I have 2 problems with this hand :

1) you should bet more on turn.

Betting the same amount as the flop is really the minimum u can do (betting less would have been horrible) but is often not enough because you give more chances to your opponent to bluff at it.

There is $50ish in the pot on turn, I would bet $32.

$16 screams weakness or a monster...but more than often it's the first one.

2) I really REALLY REALLY dont like the fact that you are sitting with $91 at a table that allows you to have $200 in front of you.

Had that hand happened vs converseA or LadyMuck you would have missed a good opportunity to win the double (or close to in the case of LadyMuck)

Reload everytime you go below $175 (earlier is even better).

I was sitting with $165 the hand prior and lost a set to a higher set which brought me down to the 90ish you see. When the hand above started, I did reload, but it does not take affect until the next hand.
Sorry for the confusion. Overall I agree with your suggestion on betting the turn more aggressively. Not sure why I didn't. I wasn't positive that he was on a flush draw and in the event that he wasn't and I still had the best hand, I didn't want to represent the flush and scare him away.
Either way, you are correct, I definately should have made a pot sized bet

On second read, my only complaint echoes Scan's... definitely reload.
