Live rebuy tournament. I am sitting about 4th in chips out of 8 players left (started with 14) at this point.
Blinds 500/1000
PREFLOP:
Hero is UTG (T18,000): J J
Hero RAISES to 4,000
Villain is UTG+1 (T16,000):
Villain RERAISES ALL IN.
Folds around to hero.
Villain is a fairly tricky, LAG player that likes to bluff from what I gathered. I am pretty sure I know the answer to this question, but should I call here, knowing I would be pretty much out of the tournament if I lose?

Thats a tough one. I am one who says in a situation that will put you out of a tournament and out of the money, it would be best to lay the hand down and wait for a better chance to take villian down.

Since he is described as a laggy player who likes to bluff I call without blinking, and I'll feel good about my decision even if he flips two black aces. Because it was the right thing to do.
Besides, you got 14BBs left if you fold and now you might almost double up to 34 if you win.

As Tame stated, easy call against a known LAG.

One thing that might play into this hand is MY image. Out of the 13 there, 8 are regulars and they all know I am normally TAG. Villain is new blood to the game and has not seen how I play. As stated above, this was a rebuy, so during the rebuy period I employed the "maniac strategy". So he saw me going all in with A9o, 78s, etc.
So my image to him might be that I am a total maniac, even though after the rebuy period I was back to my normal TAG play.
Dont know if that changes anyones decision or not, I just figured I would add that.

What did you end up doing?

I don't like the raise pre-flop. You're commiting almost a quarter of your stack then considering folding. If you get two cold callers and the flops comes with a couple overs, what do you do???
I would have limped then either re-raised all-in pre-flop if the oppurtunity arose or pushed a ragged flop.
But in this case against a LAG, definite call.

I'd call vs a LAG... I'd prefer to push all-in rather than call all-in, but this is a good spot, imo. If you fold you're left with a little less than 10 orbits worth of Blinds... which puts you in a desperate situation. Assuming a 9-handed game, that's ~89 hands to find a better spot than JJ heads-up and you'll never be able to get more money from a single opponent than in this hand (unless you climb back out of the hole folding would put you in). I haven't done the math, but my gut says 89 hands isn't enough to find a better spot than this on average. That is, I think folding is a bigger gamble than calling would be.

Call. Your stack is too small to fold and you probably have the best hand.
I'm rasing pre-flop with JJ, it makes your decisions easier later in the hand.

I tried this approach in a ring game last night. Hit my set and started betting heavy. Idiot who kept calling me hit a flush and didn't do it cheaply either. I was pot betting the whole way and he just kept calling. He didn't make the 4th card for his flush till the turn and then nailed it on the river. I added him to my buddy list under donks to find...

Big difference with this hand in MTT vs Ring. Always raise it up in ring. Only reason I said limp was because of stack size.
