The more I'm learning about limit , the more its becoming very appealing to me. Don't get me wrong , I LOVE NL ..... but a badbeat in NL costs me all my chips , in limit its costing me 1 BB to satisfy my curiosity
Anyway , my local casino has a players club card type program. Every hour on the hour your card gets scanned. You accumulate 1 hour per scan. You can then turn in your hours at certain levels for money.
60 hours 50$
i forget the next few levels but
800 hours 3000$
1000 hours 5000$
Now Ive had my card for like 2 months , playing ALOT of NL , I got maybe 25 hours on it. However in 2 days , playing very safely at limit , I got like 14 hours.
I think I could grind my life awaaaaaaaaaaay for that 5000$ 5 $ an hour to play isn't bad , I'm just not properly rolled for even 2$/4$ right now : I've been haveing fun playing 1$/2$ because online , its easy enough to win , but live its REALLY easy to win
Tonight was great , playing with a drunken gay guy - his drunken sister , 3 asian guys who were absolutly terrible , and a guy who kind of knew how to play but had no concept of anything other then his cards - like to call you down if he had ANYTHING!
fun stuff I wish I could have gotten more cards. I was almost down and out when my BB hand floped 2nd pair ... check everyone checks ( good my pair is best right now ) then turn blank , i bet , 4 callers lol. river ace..... aww = I lose.
then I get AA on the button , family pot. I raise everyone calls.
flop A 10 x
sweet! early posistion bets everyone calls ( sweet ! ) I raise everyone calls.
turn Q
checks to guy in front of me who bets , all in ( last couple bucks ) I'm then all in ( my last couple bucks )
now ..... oddly enough the guy in front of me turns the nut str8. I'm drawing to an ace or a queen or x ...... river x! boat lol , other guy had 1010. Man , i thuoght if only i had mroe money .... but at the same time with the turn i was dead to 7 outs!
Was a fun night , i think I'd like to grind to that 5000$ !!

If 1,000 hours = $5,000 dollars, thats an extra $5 an hour on top of whatever you are making. That is a serious bonus. You could clear that 5K in about a year playing 20 hours a week. I am a kindred spirit in your love of limit poker. NL is fun and saying "all-in" while staring down your opponent is always a big adrenaline rush, I find limit much more fulfilling. We gotta get more of us on THP!

I could talk limit with you for hours
To me , I've always been a strong thinker good at math , so now that I'm finding out how to beat loose limit games , its becoming incredibly appealing to be able to KNOW I can't do anything wrong. How often can you say you did nothing wrong playing poker? I can say for fact I do nothing wrong playing low stakes limit with a bunch of donks. If they get lucky , fine , but nothing beats getting 15 to 1 to chase 5 outers :D implied odds are huge in no fold-em hold-em.
I would just need to play some mroe live , do some math , see if The rake is too much at 1$-2$. But god I would love to grind out at my local casino for a living , all the while acruing tword that 5k. 5000 dollars and I could have myself a serious 5$-10$ bankroll - which im sure i cuold put to good use if i grinded out 950 hours at limit.
fun times ahead.

It's always fun counting our millions before we earn them.
Just wait for the burnout.

I can't speak for you.
But I can speak for myself: 950 hours of poker planned? Hell no!
I'd probably die from utter boredom in week 3.

I know what your saying , honestly. But I've been playing poker for 5 years , why would I get tired of it now ?

Right now I'm just trying to calculate how bad the rake is , expecially at 1$-2$ , I may have to do this playing 2-4 which i dont mind at all , its just getting properly rolled for will be the only problem.

what casino is this that you earn 5$ per hour playing limit most casinos i been to you earn 50cents-1$ per hourly scan. nl you earn 1$ for lower nl tables and 2$ on the higher limits where rake is a little more
i dont see the casino making much money with the 1000hrs-5000k
some of those lower limit tables will deal out 25 hands if that an hour if they rake avg 2$ per hand thats 50$ where as if its a full table they can actually be paying that 50$ right back out in bonus's
now on the other hand are you sure it isnt comp dollars, money u can only use towards hotel rooms, food and other stuff in the casino

Oceans 11 casino - and yea I'm sure. Its actually a special giveaway thing they do annually - theres a pool of 500,000$ or so it comes out of. Its been like 3-4 months and theres still 485k or so left.

If they are raking $3/hand, that is about $90/hour or $9-$10 per player. If they are struggling for action, that is a cheap price for them to pay.

Yea exactly I moved to oceanside 2 months back now. The cardroom is really ncie , pretty good sized. Have about 50 tables - 2 rooms. daily tournies , limits from 1$-2$ up to 30$-60$ and NL as low as 1$ 1$ blinds up to 500$ min buy in. My fav part about the casino - the food! I've probbaly been to 15+ casinos and this place has by far - bar none the best food at the best prices. They literally have anything and everythign for 3$ or less. good quality good size , everything is basically a buck or two - even a steak is just 3.50. And its all great quality.
My dad actualy lives right near OC - garden grove. Small world

I wish I lived close to a decent casino . We've got Winstar which is about an hour away and then Shreveport which is about 4 hours away. Slim pickens.

I have 4 poker rooms within an hour and probably 10 within 3-4 hours. The nearest is 20-25 minutes during daytime at 15 minutes home at 2am.
Yippee!

My brother and I are hoping to make a trip to Foxwoods this fall. Are there any that they run on weekends that you would recommend for someone with a fairly small bankroll but a lot of experience?
