I won a big 5/10 pot last night, but I could have been more.
Med position, loose player raises early (like he does w/ A4 suited) so I 3 bet w/ JJ, 2 call and a blind caps, all call.
Flop 10 6 5 Loose player comes out, like he often does, I 2 bet, a couple fold, blind 3 bets, loose player folds, I call, one more calls. I am thinking that the blind either has AA KK QQ or AK diamonds-but doubt that.
Turn J , now 2 flush draws on the board, 2 str8 draws, but I have the nuts. Blind comes out, I raise, other calls, he 3 bets, I cap and other just calls-now I know the blind has a big hand, but I have the nuts, I am sure the other player has diamonds.
River Q blind comes out betting again....hmmm....I just capped, and he fires out again. The other player behind me could still have AK diamonds and sucked out a str8. So I just call. He shows 10 10 for a set of 10s.
I was pleased w/ the big pot, but pissed that I didnt pop him again. I couldnt really see AK being in play, or even QQ at that point. I often play the river scared, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Does anyone really slowdown here when your nuts drops to 5th nuts in a limit game?

On this particular board I'd raise that river.
QQ and AK just aren't that likely, that's all.

I think you're winning this pot more than your share of the time. Betting for value is probably correct. With that many people betting like that on a draw heavy board I'd be a little nervous too.

I also tend to play the river passively. Lets recap: the blind capped OOP preflop, its gets 3-bet on the flop, you cap the turn, and now he comes out betting the non-diamond river? He is not afraid of your hand. I agree that AA, KK, QQ due to preflop and flop play. I don't think a solid player would cap TT out of position preflop. When he leads the river I call because in general, AA or KK would check/call the river after all that action. I would assume if he comes out betting the river its QQ a lot of times.

That is what I was mostly afraid of. Also, the player behind me just hanging around was a small concern. I thought he was on a flush draw, but AK K9 or 89 beat me too. For a $250-270 pot, the "big enough" hole in my game was too powerful.

I think the only way to justify a raise on the river with this hand - would be to put yourself of the mindset that the SB liked his hand pf , kept with it the entire way because he hit the flop in a big way or had kings or aces. If someone had queens they might slowdown after the flop was capped suspecting kings or aces. You could also presume the player to act before you - if he had a str8 would have raised.
You would have to assume all of this to justify a raise on the river , so I think your call was very justified. however with 2 players behind you , you only need to be about 50% correct when raiseing for value that you beat the SB.
my .02 - I would have happily just called as you did.

Biggest Reason: Getting 3-bet on the river makes me want to puke.

Raising on the river may be correct, but only slightly better than calling... in your shoes, I probably would have just called as well.

What does "capped" mean?
noooooooooo, I'm not new

Capped is the term used when the betting has reached its maximum amount of raises in a limit game.
