In Vegas Sunday-Wednesday. Here's my impressions of some of the rooms:
TI: pretty average, standard tables/chairs. Kinda loud, it's right off the main hallway. Had a great run there to start my trip, held up for my poor play later on.
Mirage: Nice room.
Palace Station: ok room. I stay there to save a few bucks, it's a locals, low-limit kinda place.
Monte Carlo: Nice room, in the back corner, an actual room, so it's quiet.
Caesar's: Nice main poker room, big tournament room behind it. Down a little hallway from the sports book, so it's poker and poker only. Seemed like a nice place, didn't play.
Paris: 'Poker area" is more apt. Worse, it's right in the middle of the casino, so there's slots and other whatnot all around you. Looks like it would be a bad place to play, I didn't.
Aladdin: another poker area: just the ropes separate it from the casino.
Imperial Palace: Same, only more run-down.
Venetian: Didn't play, but the room seemed really nice when I stopped and looked. Comfortable chairs, nice tables, et cetera.
In terms of the play, I'm still a low-limit player, so play was universally bad (myself included). I think Mirage probably had the best low-limit players of the ones I came across.
Nice weather this time of year, not killer hot and very nice in the evenings. Overall, a successful trip, although I gave some back at the end playing drunk/stupid, left with a small profit.
