This has really got to be the worst ever

This just happened today at the Niagara Falls Casino. My son won an entry into the Degree Poker Championship last month and his first round was today. For those of you not familiar with the Degree Poker Championship you can check it out here: http://www.degreepoker.com/.

The structure for the tournament is pretty aggressive - you start with 2000 chips and the blinds start out at 25-50, so you better pick up cards early if you're going to survive. Anyway, my boy plays maybe one or two hands during the first level and loses 300 chips. Early in the second level he gets dealt QQ and is 3rd to act. He bets out around 400 chips and gets two callers. The flop comes Qs3c3s. The pot is about 1500 chips and he has about 1200 chips in front of him so he pushes. The guy to his left immediately calls and the other player folds. The caller flips over As5s (giving him a flush draw). When my son turns his cards over the other guy gets up and starts putting on his coat to leave. He watches as the dealer turns over the 4s on the turn. Then he stares in amazement as the 2s comes on the river. Unbelieveably the guy has hit a runner runner straight flush.

I wasn't there to see this, but I guess my boy pulled a Phil Helmuth when the river card hit (who can blame him). At least he can laugh about it now, but it must have been pretty hard to take when it happened. My many bad beats over the last several months don't seem so bad now!
