All of the spades killed my action, but I was hoping that someone had at least an ace or king to play with. How do you guys play this, or did I get all I could out of this hand?

Checking and calling is most likely to be the right play here. I would definitely have checked the river with 4 spades out there because it's a win, win situation. If someone has a spade, they may fire out a bet which you can raise to take the pot. If no-one fires a bet, you still take the pot with your quads. By checking, you are inviting a bet which may or may not come but either way, in first position on that board with quads, I think you have to check.

A minimum bet may have gotten a call also, if you weren't willing to check it. Anyone with any spade would have to call $.50, maybe even $1 with a pot that size.

Yeah, it is too bad that the scary board cropped up and nobody could really compete with the threat. I guarantee that nobody put you on the set or quad deuces with the size of the preflop bet you called. But with the ROYAL FLUSH threat and the aggressive preflop play the other threat is what put them off.

I had AA once and flopped AAK. I checked it to the river, no bet. But at least I got to show it down.
